Phillip Schofield breaks social media silence after year away ahead of ‘TV return’

Phillip Schofield has broken his social media silence for the first time in a year.

The former This Morning presenter, 62, has kept out of the public spotlight since stepping down from the ITV daytime show last year. However, he logged into his Instagram page on Wednesday (May 15) to share a picture of his puppy.

Alongside the snap of his pooch sitting at the bottom of a bed watching a television screen, he penned: “Thankfully, Alfie is a big @f1 fan.” Phillip originally had his comments turned on, but has since turned them off. His Instagram bio currently reads: “Nothing beats kindness, it sits quietly beyond all things.”

He was embroiled in controversy after he admitted to having an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a younger male showrunner. The former ITV star previously said he “lost everything” and was worried he would “never work on telly again” due to his fall from grace. But now, there’s a big hint that he’s planning a return. Phillip’s daughter, Molly Schofield, 30, is said to be his new publicist. It’s also been reported that she’s been talking to the media about stories involving him.

Molly previously worked at YMU, her dad’s old agency. However, due to the controversy, they let Phillip go after he departed from This Morning, ending a 35-year relationship. According to her LinkedIn profile, Molly also left YMU in January. Molly worked at YMU for longer than eight years. Her updated online CV interestingly says she’s having a “career transition”.

A source from YMU told the Daily Mail: “Molly was popular at YMU but it was always going to be a little bit awkward working there after what happened. Phillip was part of the furniture there, he was very important and very powerful so things must have changed a lot for her.

“As recently as three weeks ago she was negotiating with the British media about stories that had been published about her father, acting very much as his PR.” Phillip previously revealed that his daughters, Molly and Ruby, have been his rock during the recent scandal. He previously told The Sun: “If it hadn’t been for my girls last week I wouldn’t be here.”
