Rob Rinder says ‘friendship turns to love’ as Rylan breaks silence on ‘dating’ rumour

Rylan posed for snaps of the red carpet with his new co-star Rob Rinder recently.

Rylan, 35, made a stunning appearance at the BAFTA Television Awards on Sunday (May 12), fresh from his Eurovision Song Contest gig overseas. The star-studded event took place at London’s Royal Festival Hall on Sunday.

He had just jetted back to the UK after his stint in Sweden for the previous night’s song contest. He was joined at the BAFTAs by his mate Rob, 45.

The pair teamed up to present the Daytime award and struck a pose for snaps on the red carpet. Both were decked out in suits featuring white shirts, black jackets, matching trousers and black shoes.

Their attendance at the ceremony came just before the debut of their new programme, Rob and Rylan’s Grand Tour, on BBC Two later that evening. The three-part series sees them exploring Italy, tracing the steps of poet Lord Byron on the 200th anniversary of his death, according to the Mirror, reports the Express.

The programme is inspired by Byron’s ‘Grand Tour’ centuries ago. A synopsis teases: “The Grand Tour was a cultural odyssey designed to turn young upper-class Brits into civilised, educated gentlemen. So will it have the same effect on Rob and Rylan? “.

The dynamic duo, who reportedly used the same divorce lawyer when their marriages broke down, have been hard at work promoting their new show. They’ve been exchanging heartfelt compliments in the run-up to its premiere.

Rylan expressed his thrill over the premier of their new show on social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, with: “Tonight our new show starts at 9pm on BBC Two and iPlayer. It was so special. This man has become family to me because of this experience. It really is a show like no other and we’re so proud of it. Hope you enjoy.”

Adding to the hype, Rob quoted Lord Byron about the bond between them: “‘Friendship may and often does, grow into love.’ Byron .. See you alongside him 9pm tonight @BBCTwo.”

In a chat with the Sunday Times, Rylan unloaded on his affection for Rob: “We do, we love each other. Like a married couple: we row all the time and don’t have sex.”

Audiences are clearly taken by the dynamic duo, as one devout fan tweeted: “My husband and I are watching [Rob and Rylan’s Grand Tour] and thinking everyone should have a friend like Rylan in their life. What a fabulous friend.” Rob took to the same platform to respond with: “So true.”

Upon receiving awe-inspiring feedback following the first episode on Sunday night, Rylan posted to express his gratitude: “Wow, we never expected this reaction to the show. Thank you so much for the love. It’s so welcome.” The programme “Rob and Rylan’s Grand Tour” is aired Sundays at 9pm on BBC Two and can also be viewed on BBC iPlayer.
