Sir David Jason left fans in stitches after being startled by a ‘dragon’ on the latest episode of his BBC2 show with Jay Blades.
The Only Fools and Horses legend, 83, appeared on the new series David and Jay’s Touring Toolshed when it started airing on TV screens last week. The show sees him paired up with the furniture restorer and presenter in an unlikely pairing to help help members of the public, professional makers, and enthusiasts take their crafts to the next level.
But during a recent episode, the duo were seen opening a tool shed to view the work of their next talented guest when David jumped back, yelling: “Oh my God!” Behind the door, was a glowing glass dragon sculpture made by specialist glass blower Terri.

“Terri, was that you? Was it? Did you put that there?” he asked. When she confirmed she “sneaked that in there”, he replied: “God, that was something else.”
Terri is one of the nations top glass blowers, specialising in making glass for science and research purposes in a prestigious university for more than 30 years. But in her free time, she makes her own glass sculptures – including the dragon and cricket player she brought on the show.
Curious about her professional work, David asked how she made one of her scientific pieces, with a spiral of glass going through the centre. “How do you get that round one in the… that one?”
“If I told you that, I’d have to kill you,” she quipped, earning a laugh from the comedy legend. However, she explained that she’d make the coil part first before the outside glass and putting it in “like a ship in a bottle.”
But the host was stunned by how specialist the work is as he thought she must be “one of the only ones”. According to the Heritage Craft Association, scientific glassblowing is an endangered profession, with fewer than fifty scientific glassblowers currently employed in the UK.
He also loved how her work and hobby were both related to glass blowing, showing how passionate she is about her work. “You’re working all the time, but you love it,” David said, as Jay replied: “This is another level, isn’t it? I’ve never seen anything made like that.”
