Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles voice actor Peter Renaday has sadly died aged 89.
He voiced Master Splinter – the mentor of the turtles – in the hit animated series from 1987 until the show’s finale in 1996. The star was reportedly found dead inside his home in Burbank California on Sunday (September 8) following a call for a wellness check.
According to TMZ, the actor’s death “appears to be natural and isn’t being handled as a medical examiner case”. Law enforcement confirmed Peter’s passing to TMZ on Tuesday (September 10).

Peter’s TV and film career spans six decades and includes voice work on Transformers, the animated series of Batman and Superman and Disney films, as he voiced the Milkman and Le Petit Café Chef in The Aristocats.
He also voiced Abraham Lincoln in the Hall of Presidents and Henry and Max in the Country Bear Jamboree at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The star was married to Florence Daniel from 1979 until her death on February 18, 2011.
Fans on social media have paid tribute to the star. One wrote: “Cheese & Crackers! Not only have we lost James Earl Jones but we also lost Peter Renaday as well. why are we losing so many legends this year? RIP.”
Another commented: “Peter Renaday, our beloved 1987 Master Splinter, has passed away let’s take this opportunity to celebrate the life of such beloved actor who delighted us for nearly a century!.”
A third penned: “Bob Newhart, James Earl Jones, and now Peter Renaday. Hasn’t 2024 taken enough from us already?.”
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles followed the adventures of turtles Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo, and Raphael in New York City. They battled the likes of Krang, Shredder and other villains, with Master Splinter serving as their martial arts instructor and adoptive father.
