The Chase became awkward after Mark Labbett appeared to overshare on Bradley Walsh’s personal circumstances.
On Thursday (11 January), the chaser who is also best known as The Beast on the ITV programme entered his seat and usual fashion attempted to poke fun of the host. Which happens on most episodes.
However, fans have since questioned whether Mark’s comments this time may have been a bit close to the bone. Even Bradley himself didn’t even appear to raise a smile.

Mark had been providing a contestant with an analogy on how the iconic presenter was likened to “an old car”. He went on to explain: “He’s expensive to run and is prone to the odd breakdown”.
Fans over on X – formerly known as Twitter – were also questioning whether Mark may have got it wrong this time. One person asked: “Is it me or are the Chaser descriptions a bit dodgy today? #thechase.” With a second person also pointing out the very same thing, they added: “I love The Beast but that analogy was a bit off-kilter #thechase.”
Meanwhile, the jibes didn’t end there, with Mark further taking aim at Brad later on in the show. During a chat with a contestant, The Beast jested about the host’s lack of education and knowledge.
He had been chatting to player Phil who had impressively taken up completing a Doctorate Degree in his spare time during his retirement. Then he lunged an unprovoked attack on Brad – who did this time see the funny side.
Mark asked: “So you completed a doctorate in your retirement? To which Phil nodded and replied: “Yes I did.”

The Chaser added: “You see Bradley there’s always time for you to get that GCSE you’ve always wanted.” The host did laugh out loud at this comment.
During Thursday’s episode The Beast had a tough run against contestants with Phil and three others successfully making it back with £47,000 in the kitty. It looked to be an intense round, but the foursome were no match for the chaser as he sabotaged their hopes and dreams of taking home a good sum of cash and caught them with eight seconds remaining on the clock.
