The Chase’s Paul Sinha had ‘no idea’ where husband was during crucial wedding moment

Paul Sinha has dubbed his wedding “the greatest day” of his life despite the many blunders.

The quiz whizz spilled the beans on his big day when he tied the knot with longtime beau Oliver Levy back in 2019.

The lovebirds, who got together through their shared love for quizzing, said their ‘I dos’ amid the swanky surrounds of Mayfair, with a crowd that was a who’s who from Paul’s life, including quiz heavyweights and pals from way back when.

Their wedding bash hit a bit of a snag when an issue led to a cock-up with a video display meant for their guests. While his hubby-to-be was elbow-deep in tech, Paul found himself playing host.

He was schmoozing solo with more than 200 guests that ranged from childhood mates to uni chums, not forgetting his fellow brainboxes from the Chase.

In his memoir, ‘Once Sinha Lifetime: Comedy, disaster and one’s man’s quest for happiness’, Paul recounted the snafu that left him fronting the welcome committee while Olly battled with the back end of a telly.

As time ticked by and Olly was MIA, guests started to get shirty, wondering if the shindig would ever kick off, leaving Paul on the verge of a meltdown.

He pens in his book: “I couldn’t tell them the true answer, ‘He’s got his arm down the back of a dusty television, trying to save our wedding’.

“As people began to get techy about whether anything was actually going to happen, I started to fall apart.”

Paul revealed his wedding day was filled with technical glitches and mishaps. He shared that many of his friends were either laughing at him or trying to help solve the issues.

Despite their efforts, the LCD Soundsystem video eventually started playing but was drowned out by chatter and ignored. Trying to move past the problem, Paul mentioned that his husband began mingling with guests, which led to another issue.

As their first dance was about to start, Paul found himself alone on the dancefloor, unable to locate his husband. He remembered: “I had no idea where Olly was. I just knew that this was our wedding day and our first dance.

“I was just going to have to do it on my own.”

In an effort to salvage the moment, Paul said he started dancing to Taylor Swift’s Blank Space “oblivious to the pain behind what they were currently witnessing”.

He continues to say that after finally reuniting with his spouse for the “spectacular finale”, they attempted a cover of The Impossible Dream, but confesses they hadn’t properly learned it.

Paul stated: “It just didn’t matter. It turned out that the success of the event didn’t depend on the flawless execution of the finer details.”

He concluded that despite the hiccups, the pair’s wedding remained “the greatest day” of his life.

The Chase Celebrity Special airs tonight at 5pm on ITV.
