This Morning bosses are reportedly “scrambling” to secure the return of one of the show’s legends.
Fern Britton, who presented the show alongside John Leslie Phillip Schofield between 1999 and 2009 has seen her stock rise since starring on Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year. Now, she could be set for a “mega-money” comeback 15 years on from her departure.
The 66-year-old’s exit was believed to have come after a falling out with co-star Schofield – whom she pulled out of presenting the British Soap Awards with just days later. Now, with her options open, one bookmaker has her listed at 6/1 to return to her old job as a guest host.

Betideas.com has the former Ready Cook Star also lists her at a much more likely 8/13 to fill in on Lorraine, meanwhile. In addition, Fern is also odds on at 5/6 to join the panel on Loose Women.
Spokesperson for the betting company, Lee Astley, explained: “Many are wondering what’s next for Fern Britton after making the final of Celebrity Big Brother last month, with a host of daytime TV shows reportedly scrambling to get her back on our screens sooner rather than later.
Lee added that more ITV show’s remain a possibility for her next move, with Dancing on Ice and I’m A Celebrity also possibilities. “Should Britton opt for something less sedentary, a trip to the jungle to feature as a contestant on the next season of I’m A Celebrity trades at 7/2, whilst an opportunity to take to the rink on Dancing on Ice looks attractive at 8/1,” he said.
Fern, who’s appearances on screen have been few and far between since leaving This Morning, also has odds of 4/1 to host her own travel show, whilst her own talk show is at 5/1. She recently sat on the This Morning sofa for the first time in years, meanwhile, joining new presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shepherd to chat about her exploits in the CBB house.
Insiders previously told Mail Plus that ITV execs believe getting Fern back in some capacity is a “no-brainer”. One commented: “For many of the bosses it is a no-brainer to use her as much as they can, and of course as much as Fern wants to commit. She is the most experienced and talented of broadcasters and is absolutely adored by the British public.”
Fern recently opened up on her life, explaining: “Life has changed for me in the last 10 years, especially with my career. So it’s lovely to think I can just concentrate on writing, the kids and getting on with life. This feels quite comfortable, and Phil [ex-husband, Vickery] and I knew it was the right thing to do.”
