This Morning’s Gyles Brandreth looks unrecognisable in a throwback snap from his wedding day, as he celebrates over half a century of marriage with wife Michele Brown.
The 62-year-old TV personality and Royal enthusiast has been happily married to Michele for an impressive 51 years. To commemorate their recent anniversary on June 8, Gyles posted a nostalgic photo from their wedding day back in 1973.
In the picture, the star is seen looking dapper in a striped suit, shirt, and tie, sporting a full head of hair as he poses next to his bride outside Marylebone Register Office in London. His wife Michele looks stunning, smiling at the camera in a black dress adorned with daisies.

Gyles captioned the post: “‘A friend may well be reckoned the masterpiece of nature’- Ralph Waldo Emerson” and then added: “(The picture is of me and my wife, Michele, outside Marylebone Register Office in London, on our wedding day: 8 June 1973. )”
Fans were quick to congratulate the couple on their enduring union. One follower commented: “Happy anniversary.” Another added: “A beautiful picture. Firstly, Congratulations on your 51st Anniversary – it’s a long time. Secondly, love the style and fashions of the times-especially the haircuts and clothes. “
Gyles Brandreth, a familiar face on ITV, has also been stirring the pot with his contentious views on This Morning. The telly veteran recently made a shocking admission on his Rosebud podcast, claiming he ‘blames himself’ for the untimely demise of iconic entertainer Rod Hull.
Rod Hull, famed for his hilarious emu antics that saw the likes of Michael Parkinson become unwitting victims, met a tragic end in 1999 when he fell from his bungalow’s roof during a storm, suffering fatal injuries. In a candid confession on his podcast earlier this month, Gyles recounted the fateful night: “I killed a man – it was Rod Hull, the emu man.
“We were at the theatre, we were at the first night of Animal Crackers – it was a show about the Marx brothers. Terrible, terrible weather that night. And he was sitting next to me, and he was complaining all through the show – was interrupting the show almost – going on about how he wanted to get home because he wanted to watch the football, but his Sky aerial wasn’t transmitting properly.
“And I said, ‘Don’t moan about it, if you want to watch the television get a ladder out, climb on to the roof, and fix it Rod.’ And after the show, in this stormy weather, he went home, he got out a ladder, he climbed the ladder, and he tried to fix the aerial. Unfortunately the wind was very great and he fell backwards off the ladder and killed himself. So I wasn’t actually there, but I’d encouraged him.”
