Tito Jackson’s mates have spilled the beans on his heartbreaking final words before the singer was hit by a fatal heart attack.
The 70 year old star, famed for his time with The Jackson 5 alongside siblings Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, and Michael, sadly died on Sunday following a heart attack in a car in New Mexico. His buddies Terry Harvey Maltbia Tito’s business partner and Ronald Balfour were with him on a road trip after collecting vintage motors from his Oklahoma pad when disaster struck.
Chatting to the Daily Mail, the lads recounted Tito’s last moments, revealing they had been munching on turkey and chicken, having a laugh and a chinwag. But things took a turn for the worse when Tito struggled to close the roof of their convertible, complaining of chest pains.

“He said, ‘I ain’t feeling good in my chest.’ He wiped his face off, took off his shirt and it was like someone had threw a bucket of water on him,” Terry divulged. He explained how he and Ron flagged down some coppers, and Tito was whisked off to hospital. Despite the rapid response, Tito’s state went downhill fast, reports the Mirror.

Terry confessed he was gobsmacked by how quickly Tito went downhill, initially thinking “everything was going to be OK” upon reaching the hospital, even expecting Tito might just “have to spend the night”.
Terry shared the heart-wrenching details of Tito Jackson’s final moments, saying: “And then a woman came back out and said, ‘He’s not doing good.’ I said to her, ‘What do you mean? He’s not doing good because he can’t get up? What do you mean? I was just talking to him! ‘” As Terry entered the room where Tito was being treated, he found “about seven doctors working on him”. In the midst of this crisis, as Terry attempted to call Tito’s brother Marlon, the 70 year old music icon passed away.

The sorrowful news of Tito Jackson’s passing was confirmed by his sons Taj, TJ, and Taryll in a touching social media post. They expressed their grief: “It’s with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved father, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson is no longer with us. We are shocked, saddened and heartbroken,” they penned on Instagram.
In their tribute, they remembered their father’s caring nature and impact: “Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being. Some of you may know him as Tito Jackson from the legendary Jackson 5, some may know him as ‘Coach Tito’ or some know him as ‘Poppa T.’ Nevertheless, he will be missed tremendously. It will forever be ‘Tito Time’ for us. Please remember to do what our father always preached and that is ‘Love One Another.’ We love you Pops,” the brothers concluded in their heartfelt message.
