Talk show host Stephen Colbert has admitted that supporters of former US president Donald Trump got “one thing right” when it comes to the far-right conspiracies circulating around Grammy winner Taylor Swift.
The Love Story songstress has been accused of attempting to rig both this year’s Super Bowl and the upcoming presidential election. Among those supporters is failed Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, who claims Taylor’s boyfriend Travis Kelce will win a “fixed” final with his NFL team Kansas City Chiefs.
The conspiracy adds that his win will allow the couple to back Joe Biden as they celebrate in front of millions of viewers, with the view that those watching will be so influenced by Tay-Tay’s political swing they’ll also back the existing president.

Now Colbert has addressed the theory on an episode of his show. Discussing Trump’s claims that he is “more popular” than the Midnights star, Colbert said: “Of course, we can’t even fantasise about Joe Biden screaming out the bridge to Cruel Summer without Donald Trump ruining it, because Trump is jealous now and privately claiming that he is more popular than Taylor Swift.
“What? More popular than Taylor Swift. That is insane. Can you imagine Trump selling out stadiums in Tokyo? If that’s not ridiculous enough, he’s also claiming that he has ‘more committed fans’ than Taylor does. Well, to be fair in the last three years, about 500 of his fans have been committed to jail.”
Stephen went on to further decimate the conspiracies, going on: “With Trump’s nomination a near certainty, the Maga mob is now turning their focus to their leader’s last remaining political rival: Taylor Swift. Apparently, Donald Trump and his allies are freaking out over reports that Joe Biden is seeking an endorsement from Taylor Swift.
“C’mon Joe, seeking the endorsement of a pop star? Don’t you think that’s beneath the dignity of the office of Taylor Swift. She has to have standards!” He did acknowledge that Swift could bring a new generation to the voting sphere, adding: “The size of the hugeness: Large. Just last year, a single Instagram post of hers led to 35,000 new voter registrations. That’s impressive.”
Colbert couldn’t resist poking fun at the idea Biden’s staff have urged him to attend the Eras Tour, quipping: “That would be fun. I wonder what era he’d dress as? I’m gonna I’m gonna guess Mesozoic.”

Conspiracies began to swirl when Ramaswamy blasted: “I wonder who’s going to win the Super Bowl next month? And I wonder if there’s a major presidential endorsement coming from an artificially culturally propped-up couple?”
Podcast host Mike Crispi claimed the NFL is “totally rigged for the Kansas City Chiefs”, claiming: “Calling it now: KC wins, goes to Super Bowl, Swift comes out at the halftime show and ‘endorses’ Joe Biden with Kelce at midfield.”
