Gordon Ramsay has defended his blistering father-of-the-bride speech at his daughter Holly’s wedding.
The hot-headed chef took a pop at the relatives of his new son-in-law, Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty amid a spiralling family feud. The athlete banned his mum Caroline from attending the celebrations and reportedly blocked messages before the star-studded nuptials.
But Gordon’s youngest daughter Tilly, 24, told ITV’s This Morning that her dad’s speech was “perfect” as the pair gave more details of the special day.
She said: “It was Christmas Eve, I was sitting in his room for an hour as he was just reading through it, going through everything but no tweaks were needed, it was perfect.
“It made everybody cry.”
The Kitchen Nightmares star admitted feeling like a “hot mess” on the day and said it was a “tough gig”.
He reportedly told Adam during his speech that his wife Tana would be a mum to them both, with the sportsman’s mother noticeably absent.
The chef said: “Look at Tana and that’s what you have to look forward to”.
He then added another sly dig at Caroline by saying to Holly: “Shame you don’t have the same.”
Gordon said has no regrets over his words, telling hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard:“The speech was perfect. It went well. You’ve got to be warm, emotional.
“Being the dad with three daughters, you dream of that moment and that moment arrives and you’re just like a hot mess.”
Adam’s relationship with his family soured after spats over the stag do, hen do and engagement party. Holly refused to invite his mum on her last hurrah at celeb hotspot Soho Farmhouse, despite Victoria Beckham making the cut.
The couple are now honeymooning in Mauritius, which was paid for by Gordon and Tana.
