This Morning fans brand Matthew Wright 'vile' after criticising Queen's spending

Royalists defended the Queen on Twitter and call out the former The Wright Stuff host after he criticised the Queen for having an assistant to “wear in” her shoes.

Matthew Wright, 56, was invited as a guest on This Morning’s show yesterday (12 April) where he slammed the Queen after her loyal aide, Angela Kelly, is set to once again publish her booth, The Other Side Of The Coin: The Queen, The Dresser and The Wardrobe.

Angela’s intriguing new book will be re-published in May and boasts an exclusive insight into how the Royals spent lockdown and the plans for the Queen’s upcoming Jubilee celebrations this June.

The book which was originally released in 2019 by Harper Collins, before lockdown will feature an entirely new chapter focusing on the death of Prince Philip and her protective “ring of steel security”, named HMS Bubble.

The publisher said: “The Queen personally gave Angela her blessing to share their unparalleled bond with the world and Angela is the first serving member of the Royal Household to be given this extraordinary permission.”

Matthew certainly had a bee in his bonnet about the Royal family, and continued on a lengthy rant about how the book has been written, saying it is “a soft spin on how wonderful the Royals are.

“It’s people in ivory towers spending our taxes.”

In the explosive statement, he went on to say: “We (taxpayers) pay for some woman to walk a mile in her shoes, so her feet are more comfortable.”

This Morning presenters Vernon Kay and Josie Gibson certainly did not share the same opinion as Matthew, as the pair told him to “lighten up.”

Viewers took to Twitter to discuss their outrage, one user wrote: “Bore off Matthew. Seriously, like a broken record #ThisMorning.”

Another user wrote: “Shut up Matthew. Stop criticising our Queen!”

Another user chimed in: “And now he’s dissing the Queen? You vile pig Matthew Wright.”

Despite the outrage sparked by the comments Matthew made, other Twitter users took to his defence, saying more people “don’t care about” the Royal family.
