Kym Marsh has revealed that she’s burying her son Archie’s ashes alongside her late father David.
The ex-Coronation Street star spoke about the 2009 death of her son in an emotional interview on BBC’s Morning Live. Kym’s dad David died in January at the age of 78 after a lengthy battle with prostate cancer, after which Kym decided to bury the ashes of her son Archie alongside his granddad.
It has been 15 years since Archie – Kym’s son with ex-husband Jamie Lomas – passed away at 21 weeks old following a premature birth in February 2009. Speaking on BBC One’s Morning show on Thursday (February 22), Kym said that she had agreed with ex Jamie to bury Archie’s ashes with her father shortly after the 15 year anniversary of his death.

She told co-hosts Gethin Jones and Helen Skelton: “Archie would have been 15, we’ve just celebrated his birthday on February 11. When we found out that dad was going to sadly pass away…I had Archie’s ashes with me ever since the day that we got them because I always felt like it wasn’t the right thing to do [a burial].
“Because I didn’t get to know what kind of little boy he was or where he would like to go or what he would have liked to do and because I move around so much, I couldn’t really put them anywhere.”
“And we decided, both Jamie and I, that we would let Archie rest with my dad. So when my dads ashes come back we are going to lay Archie to rest with my dad.”
Kym Marsh opened up about her late dad’s touching moment with her son Archie’s ashes. She shared: “I mean I saw dad at Christmas and Archie [ashes] was there too, I took him to my daughter’s at Christmas.
“And my dad said that day, he put his hand on the box and said ‘Are you ready to go on our journey mate?’, so dad got a lot of comfort in it and I know now he is up there eating ice cream with him.”
Last week, Kym paid a heartfelt tribute to Archie for his 15th birthday on Instagram, writing: “15 years since life changed forever. 15 years of missing you, of loving you, of wishing we could hold you again.
“Of wishing we could hear your laugh for the first time. Wishing we had heard your voice. Wishing we had got to see you play and run and enjoy your birthdays, as you so deserved to do.
“We will never have those things with you Archie but you live on in us all.”
