Liam Gallagher addresses Oasis reunion after claims band had ‘booked Wembley’

Liam Gallagher has finally addressed rumours that Oasis was set to reunite on stage for the first time in 15 years this summer.

On Saturday (June 22), it was reported that the feuding brothers had booked three dates at Wembley Arena for a surprise tour set to take place in July. But the 51-year-old has since shut down these claims, admitting that he is oblivious to a reunion with his brother Noel, 57.

Over the weekend, a loyal fan took to X – formerly known as Twitter – to ask if a reunion was on the cards this year. The musician certainly wasn’t afraid to break hearts, simply replying: “Nobody’s told me.

“Maybe [they’re] getting a new singer like the dude out of Queen,” referring to Adam Lambert’s time in the rock group. Over the past few months, rumours have been swirling around the two, with many suggesting there has been a thawing of relations between the siblings.

Others claim that with their relationship potentially on the mend, a comeback tour could be on the table. It was revealed that the pair were very close to repairing their rife after they “booked to finally take the stage together at the London stadium on July 8,9 and 10”.

But fans will be disappointed to learn that the gigs won’t be going ahead this summer after it was reportedly “cancelled”. A source told the Mirror : “An Oasis reunion has been hoped for for years. This would have been a big moment, 30 years on from their debut album Definitely Maybe.

“But until now, no one has known how close Liam and Noel came to making it a reality. It doesn’t get much closer than booking Wembley, and their teams were devastated when it all collapsed yet again.

“But the fact they made it to that point shows there’s a will on both sides. The hope is it will be a case of not it, but when.”

Liam and Noel famously fell out back in 2009, bringing their band Oasis to an end at the height of their fame.

Noel left the group hours before the band were due to perform on stage. At the time, he released a statement explaining that he could no longer work with his brother.

Over the years, the warring brothers have maintained their feud by hitting out at each other via headlines, interviews and social media posts. In October 2023, it was revealed that Liam would embark on a major stadium tour – with or without Noel.

The singer will perform every track on their 1994 debut album as well as some of their other famous hits during the summer shows. An insider confirmed to The Sun: “Liam is convinced he can recreate the magic of the first Oasis album, whether or not Noel is with him on stage.

“He’s played songs like Rock ‘n’ Roll Star with his new band and the crowd erupts.” It is understood that he will be performing at several locations across the UK including Leeds, Belfast, Glasgow and Reading this summer.

He will also return to his homestead and perform at Manchester’s Co-Op gig later this month.
