Eurovision Song Contest Canceled Due to Coronavirus

In a statement, it has been confirmed that the annual event set to be held in Rotterdam, Netherlands has been called off because of ‘the uncertainty created by the spread of COVID-19 throughout Europe.’
    Mar 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – The 2020 Eurovision Song Contest has been cancelled as the ongoing coronavirus pandemic continues.
In a statement shared on the official Eurovision Twitter page, it was confirmed that the May (20) event, set to be held in Rotterdam, Netherlands, had been called off, due to “the uncertainty created by the spread of COVID-19 throughout Europe”.
While organisers said they “explored many alternative options”, they conceded that “it is impossible to continue with the live event as planned”.
“We would ask people to bear with us while we work through the ramifications of this unprecedented decision and patiently await any further news in the coming days and weeks,” they added, paying tribute to “all the host broadcaster team in the Netherlands and our 41 Members who have worked so hard planning this year’s event.”
“We are all as heartbroken as they are that the Eurovision Song Contest will not be able to be staged in may and know that the whole Eurovision family, across the world, will continue to provide love and support for each other at this difficult time,” the statement concluded.
The 2020 edition of the musical TV event had been due to take place on 16 May in the Dutch city, after Duncan Laurence won the 2019 contest for the Netherlands with his ballad Arcade.
News of the cancellation comes just hours after Glastonbury organisers confirmed the British festival’s 50th anniversary, due to take place in June, had also been cancelled due to the global health crisis.

Glastonbury Organizers Apologize for Canceling Event Over Coronavirus

Michael and Emily Eavis announce the heartbreaking news through social media, offering the possibility of holding over their deposit in a bid to secure tickets for next year’s event.
    Mar 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Organisers at the U.K.’s Glastonbury festival have confirmed the 2020 event will no longer go ahead due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Michael and Emily Eavis, who run the annual music event at Worthy Farm in Somerset, confirmed in a statement shared on social media on Wednesday (18Mar20) morning that the festival had been scrapped due to the global health crisis.
“We are so sorry to announce this, but we are going to have to cancel Glastonbury 2020,” they tweeted. “Tickets for this year will roll over to next year. Full statement below and on our website. Michael & Emily.”
“Clearly this was not a course of action we hoped to take for our 50th anniversary event, but following the new government measures announced this week – and in times of such unprecedented uncertainty – this is now our only viable option,” they continued in the statement.
The duo offered their “sincere apologies” to the 135,000 ticketholders affected by the news, and offered the possibility of holding over their deposit in a bid to secure tickets for next year’s event. Otherwise, refunds will available until September.
Closing the tweet, Michael and Emily made reference to the “severe financial implications” the decision will have on “crew… charity partners, suppliers, traders, local landowners and our community,” adding: We look forward to welcoming you back to these fields next year and until then, we send out love and support to you all.”

Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift, and Kendrick Lamar were set to headline the event, which was slated to take place in June (20). Dua Lipa, the Pet Shop Boys, Suzanne Vega, Gilberto Gil, Sinead O’Connor, the Manic Street Preachers, Happy Mondays, Lana Del Rey, and Mabel were also named as performers, with Diana Ross having been set to perform in Sunday’s legend’s Slot.

    Mar 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Eminem has set the record straight on rumours he’s releasing a new album called “Marshall Law”.
The speculation began on Monday (16Mar20), when Florida senator Marco Rubio tweeted to deny the “completely false” information that the United States was going to employ Martial Law – where the military step in and take over from the ordinary law.
However, in his post, he referred to it as “Marshall Law”, leading fans of the rapper, real name Marshall Mathers, to start wondering if he was about to drop a surprise new release.
“Just heard Eminem dropped a new album ‘Marshall’s law’ s**t gotta be fire,” one person wrote, while another added: “Woahhhh eminem is working hard. Releasing a new album called Marshall law when he’s only just released Music To Be Murdered By??”

In Rubio’s apology, he had tweeted: “I meant to type stupid rumours about martial law not marshall law. My bad.”
