Paul Weller snubbed pal Noel Gallagher and Oasis gigs for unusual reason

The legendary rocker reckons the gigs will be a big “cultural moment” but he’s passed on tickets, preferring to watch Billie Eilish insteadSam Mayers04:00, 07 Aug 2025Paul Weller hasn’t bothered going to any Oasis gigs(Image: Anadolu via Getty Images)He’s good pals with Noel Gallagher but Paul Weller decided to snub the Oasis gigs because he can’t stand big production shows. The Modfather reckons huge stadium shows are pretty pointless because you never get a decent enough seat – even if you’re rock royalty.Paul admitted: “I’ve not been to see them, no. I am not a big fan of big gigs and I said to Noel a few weeks ago, a few months ago, or whatever ‘are you gonna do any warm ups?’ Which he wasn’t.“So I would go and see anything like that in a smaller venue. I just don’t like big gigs, it doesn’t matter who it was really.”Paul isn’t a fan of stadium gigs, it seems(Image: AFP via Getty Images)Explaining his reasoning, Paul added: “Inevitably it doesn’t matter too much where you are sitting, unless you are in the front row, you end up watching the screens and it kind of spoils it for me because I wanna be able to see whoever is playing or singing, I wanna see them.”However, the 67-year-old did watch Billie Eilish at London’s O2 Arena last month.Article continues belowSpeaking to Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2, he said: “I took our daughter to see Billie Eilish the other week and she was great. She’s great, I like her, we were quite close to the stage.“Whether that makes a difference, I don’t know, it had a roof on it that makes a difference but it was good.”Perhaps Paul is bitter that Noel didn’t give him the heads-up about the reunion, as the legend admitted he found out “when everyone else did”.And years of playing live shows has started to take its toll on Paul. He said: “It’s getting worse and worse, my wife keeps complaining that I speak quietly now which I can only fear is because I am getting more deaf, I thought I’d shout more.”Paul’s latest album El Dorado is out now.Jonas Brothers assumed Barry Gibb would deny their sampleThe Jonas Brothers got a great surprise(Image: Ralph Bavaro/NBC via Getty Images)The Jonas Brothers waited seven years to ask for Barry Gibb’s permission to sample Stayin’ Alive.Speaking about their latest turn No Time To Talk, which samples the iconic chorus, Nick revealed: “The crazy thing with this song is that I started writing it like seven years ago and just assumed it would never get cleared up by the Bee Gees and Barry Gibb.“But then finally at the top of this year I pulled it back out of the vault, and I was like ‘we need to finish this song’.”Article continues belowHe added that they “got word back within a couple of days that it was approved” after they finally got the courage to ask Barry.Want all the biggest Showbiz and TV news straight to your inbox? EastEnders star Jessie Wallace gave bosses warning over Michelle Ryan return

BBC EastEnders star Jessie Wallace refused the idea over Zoe Slater return as she would feel the audience had been “completely conned” as actress Michelle Ryan makes Albert Square comeback01:00, 07 Aug 2025(Image: BANG Showbiz)Jessie Wallace has dismissed the notion of recasting Zoe Slater, arguing that EastEnders fans would feel “completely conned”.The 53 year old actress expressed her belief that she “wouldn’t be able to give my best performance” as Kat Moon, Zoe’s mother, if Michelle Ryan’s character was replaced by another actor in the popular BBC One soap. However, EastEnders’ Executive Producer Ben Wadey, 31, managed to persuade Michelle, 41, to reprise her role. She made a triumphant return to Walford in an episode aired on June 16, marking her first appearance since June 2005.Speaking to Radio Times magazine, Jessie revealed: “I said to Ben: ‘It has to be Michelle. It won’t feel right if Zoe is recast.'”. I wouldn’t be able to give my best performance. The audience would feel completely conned.”Michelle, whose character left Walford for Ibiza, Spain, in 2005 to distance herself from Den Watts’ murder (played by Leslie Grantham), committed by Chrissie Watts (Tracy-Ann Oberman), had been invited to return to EastEnders previously, but the timing hadn’t been right until now.Jessie Wallace and Michelle Ryan(Image: @rachellouisebrownstudio/Radio Times.)She explained: “In the past, the timing just wasn’t right. I didn’t feel a need to do it and, for me, there always has to be a need. This time, I surprised myself with how open I was to it.”Michelle, who joined the soap in 2000, departed EastEnders in 2005 at the age of 21, feeling “done at five years”, and chose to “jump” onto other projects instead of “doing the same sorts of storylines”.Zoe made a brief return to screens in June, but it was short-lived as she fled to Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, after confiding in Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) and Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) about her troubles.Jessie Wallace and Michelle Ryan glad to reunited(Image: @rachellouisebrownstudio/Radio Times.)Unbeknownst to Kat, her husband Alfie travelled to Spain in an attempt to bring Zoe back to Albert Square, deceiving Kat by claiming he was going to Australia for cancer treatment.Upon Alfie’s return to Walford, he informed Stacey that Zoe was still missing, prompting Kat to label him the “biggest liar in Walford”. However, Zoe is set to return to Albert Square in the summer, reuniting with her mother, Kat.Michelle spoke highly of working with Jessie again after 20 years, saying: “Jessie is one of the best actresses I’ve ever worked with. “The rapport we have and our friendship off screen as well, it all just feeds into that mother-daughter bond.”On set, it’s like having someone in your corner all the time and always knowing that I’ll be fine. I can just talk to Jessie. We have a shorthand, and we have a similar kind of view on the characters and their journey.”Michelle first joined the long-running drama in 2000, with her character Zoe becoming central to one of the most unforgettable storylines in soap opera history – the shocking revelation that she wasn’t Kat’s (Jessie Wallace) little sister, but actually her daughter.ZArticle continues belowZoe remained in Walford for five years before departing for a fresh start in Spain, following her confession about her involvement in Den Watts’ (Leslie Grantham) death More

Elizabeth Hurley accused Channel 4 co-host of ‘talking to my breasts’ during meeting

Elizabeth Hurley and Robert Rinder’s first meeting to discuss their new Channel 4 show, The Inheritance, didn’t go to plan as the TV Judge was accused of something very awkward00:00, 07 Aug 2025(Image: BANG Showbiz)Elizabeth Hurley called out Robert Rinder for “talking to her breasts” during their initial encounter whilst discussing their upcoming Channel 4 reality programme. The actress and model has joined forces with the TV presenter for The Inheritance – a 12-part series where 13 strangers are called to a magnificent country estate to battle for their share of a deceased person’s fortune. Elizabeth, 60, takes on the role of the benefactor whilst Rinder, 47, appears as the executor managing her estate, though their first discussion about “formats” for the show – due to broadcast this autumn – became rather uncomfortable. On the most recent episode of That Gaby Roslin Podcast, Robert remembered: “When Elizabeth and I met, and she was just magnificent. “She is the person a young gay man would want to marry before realising that they would have to do geography that they weren’t necessarily interested in.”And she was wearing this some kind of gold magnificence. The one that has a picture of me standing next to her in the coffin. And I spoke to her about formats that had my chat prepped because I knew it wasn’t going to go initially well. I don’t do well with first encounter, especially with something as camp as that.”So I started talking, she said: ‘Are you talking to my breasts?’ I had nowhere to go because they were there. So I said: ‘Yes, actually, Elizabeth, I am.’Elizabeth Hurley and Billy Ray Cyrus(Image: Jeff Spicer, Getty Images)”And, you know, it would be absurd not to because they’re there. What are you supposed to do? You know: ‘Are you looking at the Alps?'”.The Inheritance has been branded a “game of wit, willpower, persuasion and betrayal”, plus “camp, cut-throat and completely gripping”.The 13 participants must unite to fulfil The Deceased’s dying wishes – “devilishly” challenging tasks requiring the group to be “clever, collaborative and cunning”.Yet since The Deceased possessed a “wicked sense of humour” and “mischievous” nature, only the sharpest players can secure her fortune. The Matterhorn in the actual Alps(Image: pongnathee kluaythong via Getty Images)The catch is that just one participant can pocket the winnings from each task, forcing one contestant to convince the rest they alone merit the prize their team collectively earned.Elizabeth revealed: “It’s a thrill to be part of this clever game, playing The Deceased; it all takes place on her huge estate in the English countryside, and she dresses to the nines in every scene.”Tune in this autumn to catch The Inheritance on Channel 4.”Robert commented: “This is a high-stakes strategy game served with a side of scheming and sabotage.Article continues below”As The Executor I enforce the rules, keep the chaos in check – more or less – and make sure our players are deserving of every glittering penny left by our dearly departed deceased, played by the iconic Elizabeth Hurley.” More
