I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star Beverley Callard is a vegan “just so she doesn’t have to put a willy in her mouth”, according to her Coronation Street co-star Simon Gregson.
Beverley took part in the first of this year’s I’m A Celeb eating trials earlier this week and was made to eat things like fermented plums and fermented tofu as she is a vegan.
But her on-screen son Simon told Loose Women viewers: “Rebecca, her daughter, is vegan so I’m sure she’s done it for all the right reasons and to save the planet.
“If you believe that, I’m a mango.

“I’m pretty sure it’s just so she doesn’t have to put a willy in her mouth.”
He joked: “I know Bev when she’s come back from a pub late in night with kebab in her hair, maybe she’ll come back with vegan bread in her hair.”
Simon said of Beverley joining the ITV show: “I had an inkling, I’d heard rumours. I didn’t know whether she would.

“I’m very surprised that she helped clean out the toilet. If anybody trumps within a mile radius of Bev you will get a clip around the earhole, and there she is emptying the latrine.
“I’m shocked about that, she hates toilets. I don’t think she’s ever had a poo in her life.”
And he reckons the soap star could win the entire show after working with her for years on Coronation Street.
“I think she’s got a very good chance of winning,” he said.
“People haven’t really seen Bev’s true personality before.
“She’s very funny and I think the whole nation will warm to her, so she’s got a great chance.”
Beverley did very well in the eating trial alongside Jordan North and Vernon Kay, with the trio managing to get all 10 stars that were available to them.
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV
