Linda Nolan has bravely opened up about being diagnosed with terminal cancer during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The former chart-topper, who is the sister of Loose Women regular Coleen Nolan, appeared on Good Morning Britain on New Year’s Eve where she explained how being cut off from her family due to social distancing left her in tears.
Linda, 61, said: “It has been a difficult year, myself and my sister [Anne] were diagnosed in cancer and yeah, it was scary having to the hospital as Covid was there but reality the opposite was true – it was the safest place.
“My cancer is treatable but not curable.
“It is the third time now and this time has been harder because of the pandemic.
“It makes you release how much you need other people.”

She candidly went on to admit it’s given her a new outlook on life.
Linda said: “I possibly took people for granted and suddenly I wanted them to be there and put there arms around and go through it with me but they couldn’t.”
The brave singer continued: “I had to dig deep and think ‘I can do this, they are just a phone call away’.
“Because we had cancer at the same time we went to chemo together which was a bit weird but a great sense of comfort.
“My other brothers and sisters couldn’t be there to hold our hands.
“We relied a lot of the NHS and they were unbelievable.”
Explaining how she has sometimes has been putting on a brave face, Linda added: “There have been times when I sob into a cushion and I shut the door.

“Then I slide down the wall and I think ‘what is going to happen’ and I think it is unfair but you have to dig deep and there will be a light at the end of the tunnel.
“This has been the hardest diagnosis.
“The first was devastating, then it came back in 2017 and then it came back and it was really testing me.
“I have the positivity and keep fighting it – I am surrounded by people who love me.”
