Piers Morgan makes Ruth Langsford cringe as he makes 'feud' jibe on Loose Women

Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid appeared on Loose Women today to talk about the time they interviewed celebs at the Oscars ahead of their next appearance.

Joined by today’s panellists Janet Street-Porter, Colleen Nolan, Ruth Langsford and Gloria Hunniford on the ITV show today, the Good Morning Britain pair spoke openly about the celebrities they met and what they were really like.

However, there was an awkward moment when Piers appeared to reference Ruth’s rumoured ‘feud’ with This Morning co-star Phillip Schofield.

Things began as GMB star Piers, 54, talked about Tom Hanks being one of the “nicest” celebrities he came across of the evening, gushing that he was “nicer” than he “thought he’d be”.

He continued: “In this business, people act nice when really, they’re not.”

Looking directly at This Morning presenter Ruth, Piers asked: “We all know everyone’s nice in the business, right Ruth?”

The audience immediately gasped as Ruth remained silent, awkwardly trying not to grin as it appeared she was chewing the side of her mouth.

Piers quickly added: “Don’t worry, I’m not talking about you, Ruth.”

Viewers rushed to Twitter to share their thoughts following the awkward moment.

One wrote: “Omg I’m screaming – wonder which silver-haired ‘nice guy’ he could be asking Ruth about.”

A second tweeted: “Piers Morgan hints about Philip Schofield not being so nice on Loose Women to Ruth Langford,” followed by a laughing emoji.

A third said: “Did Piers just take a massive dig at Ruth!?”

The dig comes following reports that came out last year which claimed Ruth made an official complaint about Phillip Schofield after he cut her off during a toe-curling live TV moment.

A source at the time told The Sun: “Ruth and Eamonn both appear to be treated harshly by Phillip.

“After Phillip literally cut her off in the middle of a sentence on air when she was hosting Loose Women she decided enough was enough. Yet again nothing changed.”

Loose Women continues weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
