Strictly Come Dancing viewers were left scratching their heads during Saturday night’s live finale as Hollywood favourite Idris Elba and Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney appeared in a household bubble together.
The unusual cameo saw Idris, 48, and Sir Paul 78,, appear on the programme to remind viewers of voting rules, as they showed their support for finalists Jamie Laing, HRVY, Maisie Smith and Bill Bailey.
The famous pair were all smiles as they spoke from a stylish room, which featured a stunning modern interior, with a chic blue sofa, contemporary wall art and plush cushions.
Sir Paul and Idris both looked stylish as they rocked on-trend designer jumpers for a festive feel.
The pair seemed at ease as they spoke to camera, although Paul did stumble on his words at point, but quickly rectified his mistake, as he beamed at the camera.
Injecting a bit of banter to proceedings, Paul jokingly tried to imitate heartthrob Idris’ deep and gravelly voice, much to the delight of his pal.
Speaking to camera, Idris then said: “Wishing everyone the best of luck and congratulations on an excellent series.”
However, viewers at home could not work out why the two were together and took to Twitter to remark it was the “oddest bubble”.
One Twitter user remarked: “Paul McCartney and Idris Elba is one hell of a bubble!”
While another continued: “Are Paul McCartney and Idris Elba in a bubble? That was surreal.”
A third added: “Sorry, are Paul McCartney and Idris Elba in a bubble together? I’m here for it.”
The UK government introduced support bubbles during the coronavirus pandemic, meaning people from two separate households could socially distance.
Putting an end to the confusion, Sir Paul and Idris appeared in a TV special following the Strictly final called Idris Elba meets Sir Paul McCartney.
The pair met up to discuss Sir Paul’s new album, McCartney III.
