Taking part in the efforts to raise funds for bush fire relief across the nation, the ‘Xanadu’ singer joins the line-up, which include John Farnham and Queen’s Brian May, at ANZ Stadium in Sydney.

AceShowbizOlivia Newton-John didn’t think she’d ever sing in public again before signing up for the Fire Fight Australia gig.

The “Xanadu” singer hit the stage at ANZ Stadium in Sydney on Sunday (February 16) night to perform a duet with John Farnham at the benefit, staged to raise funds for bush fire relief across the nation.

Speaking to Australia’s The Daily Telegraph newspaper before taking the stage, the 71-year-old confessed that until the charity gig came along, she wasn’t planning to perform live again.

“I haven’t done a show in two years and I wasn’t planning on doing any more, but for this event, and to sing with John, it’s just going to be a phenomenal day,” she said.

“Music can uplift you, can take you to a place of joy and the concert will show those people in regional places that we care about you and are doing what we can to raise funds for recovery.”

Olivia and John were also joined onstage by Queen star Brian May, while Farnham welcomed “Australia’s Got Talent” star Mitch Tambo to the stage during his set for a performance of his big hit “You’re the Voice”. Tambo sang the track in his indigenous Gamilaraay language.

Michael Buble and 5 Seconds of Summer were also part of the line-up for the bush fire charity fundraiser, alongside Queen + Adam Lambert, Alice Cooper, Delta Goodrem, Guy Sebastian, Icehouse, and Tina Arena. The 10-hour charity event raised millions for relief efforts.

The recent bush fires have caused mass destruction, killing at least 27 people and millions of animals, and destroying more than 2,000 homes.
