The One Show host Alex Jones fought back tears during Friday’s show after playing a segment showing young children going back to school for the first time since lockdown.
Across the UK, life is slowly beginning to return to normal after months of self-isolation due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Turning to co-host Chris Ramsey, Alex said: “Aww we got really emotional watching that.
“I mean Teddy is going to preschool but your son Robin is going to be starting big school.”
Laughing, Chris replied: “Yes, he is starting big school and honesty, he is so sick of me and his mum he just wants to go.
“Seeing those kids back there just made us so happy.”

Reading out some viewer comments, Alex continued: “Nicola on Facebook says ‘my eight-year-old Kieran went back on Wednesday I was worried as he has autism so we didn’t know how he would react to all of the changes but he has been amazing..'”
As her voice cracked, Alex continued: “Aww it makes me emotional.”
Trying to read out the rest of the message as she fought back tears, the Welsh host stuttered: “And he has settled straight away, we are so proud.”

Mumbling “that’s lovely” as she started to cry, Chris interrupted: “Aww bless you.”
Turning to guest Darren Brown who was appearing via video link, he joked: “Darren save us.”
Alex, 42, has two sons with her husband Charlie Thomson – Kit and Teddy.

Previously speaking to Good House Keeping, Alex admitted she sometimes finds it hard to juggle her career and being a mum.
Alex said: “I try to be the best mother I can be, but some days I’m absolutely awful at it.
“Life isn’t a series of perfect days where work is going amazingly, and you’re a brilliant wife… that’s how it is for everybody I think, but people are just too scared to say it.”
