Ant and Dec coronavirus fears after meeting with Prince Charles two weeks ago

Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly have caused concern after meeting Prince Charles just two weeks before was diagnosed with coronavirus.

The Geordie presenting duo, both 44, were pictured meeting closely with the prince at the National Prince’s Trust Awards just 14 days before he was confirmed to have the virus.

Ant and Dec hosted the awards ceremony, and met Prince Charles at the star-studded event.

Despite not shaking his hand, the pair were stood right next to him, closer than the two meter recommended distance amid social distancing rules.

Fans flooded Twitter, concerned for the Saturday Night Takeaway hosts, and pleaded with them to get tested.

One said: “Please get checked you met Prince Charles recently he tested positive for coronavirus, wishing you well.”

While another wrote: “Ant and Dec Prince Charles has it and you didn’t meet him that long ago. I think you should get checked out.”

A third added: “You met Prince Charles I pray for you both that your okay stay safe lads.”

“Prince Charles has been around Ant and Dec no! Ant and Dec Aren’t allowed to get it” moaned a fourth worried fan.

Kate Garraway also greeted Prince Charles at the event, and admitted she was worried after his diagnosis on today’s Good Morning Britain.

They spoke to Royal commentator Emily Andrews about their concerns.

Ben Shephard said: “Kate and I actually met Prince Charles, of course, at the National Prince’s Trust Awards.”

With Kate quickly adding: “Yes, but we didn’t shake hands, Emily, but we were very close.”

Emily quickly calmed down Ben and Kate’s fears, meaning Ant and Dec concerns could also be unnecessary.

She explained: “Charles, like the Queen, has a doctor on standby at all times.

“And his doctor ascertained from talking to Prince Charles, he thinks he wasn’t infected pre March 13.”

Emily said while giggling: “So, you guys are in the clear!”
