Singer Boy George told his Twitter followers today that his mum had been admitted into hospital with heart and lung problems.
Boy George said she is in a “stable condition” in hospital.
The popular singer tweeted: “My beautiful mum is in the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Woolwich.
“A problem with her heart or lungs. She’s stable but they have said they won’t resuscitate her if things go wrong? Apparently, it won’t work? How can they know. Please pray! @LG_NHS.”
He later replied to a social networker who asked if it was coronavirus.
The 58-year-old simply replied: “We don’t think so.”
Boy George’s fans flocked to the post to share their well wishes.
One Twitter user said: “Oh my god, I’m so sorry that’s happened – I’m praying, and hoping and sending all my love and support to you and your family during this time, I’m praying.”
While another continued: “Thinking of you. Resuscitation is a pretty brutal process, so they may think she’s too frail to cope with it. Here’s hoping it doesn’t come to that.”
A third added: “Stay strong George. They said the same to our family and Mom pulled through x”
Piers Morgan also shared a message of support to George, writing: “Oh no, I’m so sorry George. Will say a prayer for her.”

George’s mum Dinah O’Dowd, who was born in Dublin, Ireland. She was married to George’s father Jeremiah O’Dowd, who died in 2004.
Dinah had four sons and one daughter with Jeremiah, as well as an older son from a previous relationship.
She previously released book Cry Salty Tears, which tells the story of herself overcoming tremendous domestic hardship.
