BTS fans keep fan-spirit alive as K-Pop group cancel concerts following COVID-19

Despite K-Pop group BTS cancelling their Seoul concerts following the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus, fans of the international mega-group are still gathering to celebrate their idols and are even donating all the proceeds from the meetups to a coronavirus charity.

Following the announcement that their gig was cancelled, bandmember Kim Nam-joon otherwise known as RM claimed he was “so disappointed and raged like a madman” in a live stream.

BTS were set to perform four concerts in Seoul as part of their Map of the Soul tour, which was later scheduled to hit cities such as London, Los Angeles and Washington.

Around 200,000 fans were alleged to be flocking to the capital to see them perform.

One disappointed fan, Im Yu-mi, 19, said: “When the concert was cancelled, I was really upset,”

While a second went on to say: “It’s nonsense”.

A third fan tweeted: “They must be stupid to do so if they did that, whole army nation will march army to Seoul and they know it.”

BTS announced on Tuesday that the sale of their European tickets would be delayed due to uncertainty surrounding COVID-19.

Earlier this month, their album Map of the Soul: 7 went straight to the top of the Billboard 200 album charts.

Last week, fans wearing face masks gathered to celebrate the birthday of band member SUGA at a cafe decorated with posters of him.

Upon entry, they had their temperatures checked and were given hand sanitiser.
