Coronation Street Charlie de Melo is unrecognisable as he flaunts transformation

Coronation Street ‘s Charlie de Melo left his fans speechless with his major hair transformation after ditching his usual floppy hair.

The Coronation Street cast member has decided to shave his head while the soap is currently unable to film new episodes during the pandemic.

As he showed off his bald head and designer stubble during a walk in the park with his dog, he wowed both his co-stars and fans with his dramatic new look.

He captioned the snap: “Government Sanctioned Walkies,” as he smiled for the camera.

One wrote on social media: “Didn’t recognise you with the haircut Charlie.”

A second said: “Is that an end of contract cut? Don’t leave.”

Another added: “Wow !! Looks well. I assume u don’t have any continuity when u return to the cobbles.”

Lucy Fallon who played Bethany Platt, wrote: “Sorry but that isn’t you. Imposter.”

Ryan Clayton, aka Josh Tucker, added: “Gonna be Corrie’s Answer to Phil Mitchell when you go back.”

Meanwhile, as the soap has been put in limbo during the coronavirus pandemic, several stars are worried about their futures in Weatherfield.

The Sun revealed Corrie stars had been left worried as their formal contract negotiations being postponed due to the coronavirus shutting down production.

Their deals will run out in the next two months, while filming of new episodes remain on hold.

The top names include Samia Longchambon, 37, who plays Maria Connor, Sam Robertson (Adam Barlow), 34, and Charlie, 28.

Corrie has currently dropped its second episodes on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday, only airing three episodes a week instead of the usual six.

Bosses are taking steps to try and save the recorded episodes until later this year when new episodes can finally be filmed at the ITV Studios in Salford.
