Emmerdale ‘s Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) went into surgery to have her bowel tumour removed, and she was terrified she was going to die before going under.
The Emmerdale cast member made it through the operation, as her doctor told her that she was sure that she had removed all of the tumour, and everything had gone well.
But fans were baffled as they pointed out that the doctor wouldn’t be able to tell her so much information so soon.
One fan posted: “Wouldn’t the tumour and lymph nodes go to pathology? Not be able to tell her as soon as she comes round for goodness sake. Mind you its a tale.”
Another added: “Where’s Vanessa’s drips and morphine ffs? You’ve really done this storyline badly! It’s insulting.”
A third chipped in: “I had the same operation as Vanessa was took straight to intensive care, was attached to drips and every single monitor going and all my surgeon told me was operation went well didn’t get anymore information for another 10 days.”
A fourth wrote: “I can’t believe Vanessa comes out of major surgery to remove a cancerous part of her bowel and doesn’t need a drip and morphine and hasn’t had to have a stoma fitted. But then soap operas aren’t real.”
Fans were also left confused as a nurse came into the room while Vanessa was in surgery, as she said she was bringing in a menu for when Vanessa came back, as they pointed out Vanessa wouldn’t be able to eat.
She was also upset as her doctor told her that despite the operation going well, she would still need to go through chemotherapy to make sure the tumour was gone.
Poor Vanessa was devastated as she realised she needed to have the treatment, as she is still worried she is going to die.
Is she going to be okay?
Emmerdale continues tomorrow at 7pm on ITV.
