Emmerdale actress Eden Taylor-Draper revealed her family has taken an affront to her latest storyline on the soap, as Belle Dingle’s affair unfolds.
Eden admitted she agreed with her family in some ways, explaining she found Belle’s breach of loyalty “hard to see”.
The junior vet struck up a romance with her married colleague Jamie Tate earlier this year, leading down to the breakdown of his marriage.
His ex-wife Andrea Tate has finally left the village, leaving the illicit lovers to take their relationship to the next level.
However, the locals aren’t taking too kindly to young Belle’s new man – and the cast aren’t the only ones who have shared their opinions on the fling.
Eden, 22, revealed her granny has expressed her doubts about Belle and Jamie’s relationship, insisting the lovebirds should split.
Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, Eden said: “My Nanna isn’t happy with me because of what Belle’s doing!
“I’d say that my Nanna is the person in my family who watched Emmerdale the most and has done since before I was on the show.
“I saw her the other day for the first time since lockdown. Obviously she knows it’s not real and loves all the stories, but she did say, ‘I do not like Belle and Jamie!'”
Eden, who has been a part of the Emmerdale team for the past 15 years, also admitted she finds it “hard to see” Belle stealing another woman’s husband.
Defending her character, she added that she does “like the fact that (Belle) knows what she wants and is going for it”.
She said: “Apart from this situation, Belle’s principles are that she always wants to do the best thing. Belle doesn’t always go about things in the right way, but her intentions are good, and she has morals.
“I do really like Belle as a person!”
With Andrea out of the picture, will Jamie and Belle keep the romance alive, or could it fizzle out?
Emmerdale airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7pm on ITV.
