Iain Lee announced he has left talkRADIO after four years because the station decided not to renew his contract.
During a heartfelt message posted on Twitter, the broadcaster revealed the decision was out of his hands, and he was “eternally grateful” for all the listeners’ support during his time on the airwaves.
However, his bombshell news didn’t go down well with his devoted audience, with many angrily admitting they will not be tuning in talkRADIO and have deleted the app because “there’s no point now”.
Underneath Iain’s emotional post, one upset user fumed: “May as well delete the talkRADIO app now both yourself and Matthew Wright have gone.”

“So sorry to hear this. Thanks to you and Katherine Boyle for all the years of entertainment and company. I’ve no doubt at all that bigger and better things are on the horizon for you both. I shall now be deleting the TalkRadio app, no need for it now,” another fumed.
While a third wrote: “The only presenter that was worth listening to on TalkRADIO. At least I can delete the app now. I’ve loved your show so much and will miss it.”
“Well that’s TalkRADIO off my preset button and app deleted – no point now,” a fourth chipped in.

The station launched on 21 March 2016 with Iain hosting The Late Night Alternative with Iain Lee from 10 pm to 1 am, Monday to Friday, and was joined by Katherine Boyle who previously produced the Breakfast Show on BBC.
Taking to Twitter, the presenter wrote: “I’m the only host to be in the original slot that I asked for 4 years after the station started.
“The only host to have won an industry award (2 ARIAs actually, Best Speech Presenter 2017 and Best Radio Moment 2020).

“The only host to have saved two lives on air. The only host to have helped a hopeless alcoholic find redemption. The only host to have had an actual breakdown on the radio. The only host to have told the truth about your Prime Minister being a racist idiot.”
He added: “I could not have done this without my producer and later co-host Katherine Boyle. She was the real power behind the show, not me. I love you Katherine and I know that we made something unique.”
Iain signed off the heartfelt post, writing: “Thank you, listeners. All of you. You showed me that I was right to swim against the tide. You joined our silly little gang and played along. I am eternally grateful.”
