Kanye West has confirmed that plans on “running for President of the United States” this year.
Tesla CEO and Kanye’s good friend Elon Musk has given his backing for the rapper’s presidential bid.
Elon, 49, said the 43-year-old rapper had his “full support”.
Father-of-four Kanye, who is married to Kim Kardashian -West, said he has “2020 vision” and thinks the country needs to unify in “building our future”.
Tweeting to his 29.4million followers, Kanye said: “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States Flag of United States! #2020VISION.”
Elon, who recently welcomed a child with partner Grimes, followed up with a tweet, which read: “You have my full support!”
Elon’s support comes after the duo recently shared a snap of themselves hanging out at home.
And as well as seemingly being on the same page in terms of Kanye’s Presidential bid, they are both aligned in the fashion stakes, with Kanye captioning the photo: “When you go to your boys house and you’re both wearing orange.”
Kanye’s wife Kim later added her tweet to her Instagram Stories alongside an American flag emoji.
Unsurprisingly, Kanye’s announcement provoked a lot of reaction from Twitter users.
Taking to the comments section of the tweet, on social networker remarked: “Me driving to the polls to vote for Kanye West.”
While another labelled Kanye and Elon “the unlikely heroes of 2020”.
Some weren’t quite as convinced that Kanye would a good presidential candidate however.
One Twitter user commented: “As if 2020 couldn’t get any worse, Trump’s professional bootlicker is joining the presidential race.
“Nobody asked for another clown in the White House. This seems like a cheap publicity stunt.”
Another posted: “Just when I thought July couldn’t get any worse…. Thanks Kanye.”
