Lewis Capaldi 'dating Scottish student' after enjoying low-key dates in hometown

Lewis Capaldi has been vocal about his love life woes, but things are looking up for the singer.

The West Lothian native, 23, has been enjoying dates with a Scottish student in his hometown, romancing Catherine Halliday with a slap-up meal at a chain Italian restaurant.

According to the Sun, the lovebirds enjoyed a meal at Prezzo in his hometown before he drove the pretty 21-year-old home in his Ford Fiesta.

An onlooker revealed the duo were “tactile” during their romantic rendezvous as they shunned the fancy celeb hangouts for a low-key date night.

An onlooker told the publication: “They were being very flirty and seemed to be having fun — both laughing and joking a lot, touching hands and being tactile.

“You’d never know he was one of the biggest stars in the country and it’s a very low key place to go and eat but he obviously doesn’t go in for all the fancy celebrity stuff.

“They were holding hands as they left and went for the car, and Lewis posed for a couple of photos with fans and then climbed into a Fiesta and drove off.”

They added: “They were both laughing their heads off and pulling faces because he nearly knocked it as he pulled away.”

Lewis’ former relationship was propelled into the spotlight when his ex-girlfriend, Paige Turley, appeared on Winter Love Island this year.

The pair, who met while at Motherwell College, dated for a year before the aspiring songstress broke things off, leaving Lewis “heartbroken”.

Love ballads found on his Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent are believed to be about his former flame, but Lewis was quick to clear up the rumours when he collected his BRIT for the Best Song at the star-studded bash.

Onstage at the BRITS, Lewis said: “Contrary to popular belief, a lot of people think this song is about my ex-girlfriend, who you can now see every night on Love Island.

“But it’s actually about my grandmother who has sadly passed away a few years ago, and I hope to God ITV don’t contact her to be on a reality dating TV show.”
