Lewis Capaldi hits back after being criticised for boozy Brits appearance

Lewis Capaldi has hit back at labour activist Leah Franchetti after she took to social media to slam him for taking a bottle of Buckfast on stage with him after winning a BRIT Awards.

Lewis, 23, took to the stage to pick up the gong for Song of the Year at the swanky VIP bash, clutching the tipple in his hand.

Not impressed, Leah tweeted a picture of Lewis holding up his award and the booze to her 3,000 followers.

She raged: “We have an unhealthy relationship with alcohol in Scotland. This doesn’t help.

“We have an unhealthy relationship with alcohol in Scotland. This doesn’t help.”

Repeating the line one more time for dramatic effect, Leah added: “We have an unhealthy relationship with alcohol in Scotland. This doesn’t help.”

After seeing the post, Lewis quote tweeted the post before hitting back: “Imagine having a drink on my first night off in months after winning two BRIT awards, can you believe it?”

During his second BRIT win, Lewis joked that his his song Someone You Loved is about his late Grandma and not his Love Island girlfriend Paige Turley.

“Contrary to popular belief, a lot of people think this song is about my ex-girlfriend, who you can now see every night on Love Island,” Lewis told the packed crowd.

The Scottish star continued: “It’s actually about my grandmother who has sadly passed away a few years ago.

“I hope to God that ITV don’t contact her to be on a reality TV dating show.”

Someone You Loved was the last song Lewis wrote for the album and he’s previously admitted it almost didn’t even make the cut.

Explaining how the rest of the record is about a former flame, who may or may not be Paige, Lewis previously said: “I met a lady. She was very nice.

“I loved her. I loved the look of her and I loved how she spoke.

“We dated for a year-and-a-half, then she left me.

“Then I wrote an album about it and I still think about it every day.”
