Lewis Capaldi plans to use his two BRIT Awards to impress future suitors

Future girlfriends and intruders watch out – Lewis Capaldi is going to bed with his BRIT Awards.

The Scot nabbed a double on Tuesday night and he plans to keep the statuettes next to his pillow.

It means the single star will be able to impress future suitors with them.

Lewis explained: “I’m keeping them next to my bedroom table cos it’s nice to wake up and go, ‘Oh look at my BRITs’.

“But also just in case an intruder breaks in and I can bludgen them to death – I have to defend myself.”

On stage Lewis amused viewers by thanking his grandmother Rosemary “for dying” and inspiring hit ballad Someone You Loved.

Afterwards he continued to lay into his late gran – all tongue-in-cheek, of course.

“Even though she sadly passed away, she was a money-grabbing b*****d – I’m joking.

“It was very nice to be able to win having written a song about that.

“It was one of the most personal songs I’ve ever written, so rest in peace Rosemary Guthrie.”

Later, well-oiled Lewis celebrated at the Universal Music after-party with his family and shared another soggy kiss with singer pal Niall Horan.

Next he’s planning more gigs and time off to write LP number two.

He told me: “We’ve just announced the last shows for this album on October 2 in the 02.

“After that, that’ll be me.

“I just want to release my first single from my next album in an ideal world towards the end of 2020 and album in 2021, but I think in reality it’ll be album and music next year.”

And lots more awards, no doubt.
