US actor Richard Herd has died of complications from cancer at the age of 87.
The star was best known for his role as Mr Wilhelm on the hit series Seinfeld, playing a New York Yankees executive who supervised George Costanza (Jason Alexander).
Herd died at his home in Los Angeles on Tuesday, with his family by his side.
Born in Boston, he made his film debut in the 1970 flick Hercules in New York.
Nine years later, Herd enjoyed his first big break, starring alongside Jane Fonda and Michael Douglas in the thriller The China Syndrome.
Herd was beloved by sci-fi buffs, thanks to his roles in the NBC miniseries V and the 1984 sequel V: The Final Battle, in which he played a Visitors’ Supreme Commander named John.

His actor son, Ben Stiller, broke the news of his father’s death in a heartfelt statement, saying: “I’m sad to say that my father, Jerry Stiller, passed away from natural causes.
“He was a great dad and grandfather, and the most dedicated husband to Anne for about 62 years. He will be greatly missed. Love you Dad.”
