The Chase host Bradley Walsh was in for a surprise tonight when the first contestant on the show interrupted him while he was asking questions.
Brainiac Jon, who works as a professional gambler, stepped up to the plate, hoping to take his wife on a trip to America.
The chatty tone changed, however, when Jon started firing off a series of correct answers in the cash builder round.
At certain points, Bradley didn’t even get to finish asking the question before Jon had shouted the answer.
For a question about video games, Bradley simply said “knuckles the…” before Jon correctly replied “Sonic the Hedgehog”.
Making it through to the next round, Jon squared up to Mark “The Beast” Labbett, hoping to take home some cash.
Taking to Twitter, fans of the show were gobsmacked by the repeated interruption, rating Jon’s quiz-skills highly.
One laughed: “‘Knuckles the’ – ‘SONIC THE HEDGEHOG’.”
A second added: “Rather bizarre that for all of that jumping in, he still only got nine grand …”
While a third chimed: “My god he’s fast!!! I didn’t even hear the question to the sonic answer! I hope he goes high! I reckon he could do it!”
Bradley was impressed by Jon, warning The Beast: “Tell you something mate, he’s quick and good.”
Proving Bradley right, Jon managed to make it back to the table with £36,000 under his belt.
Chuffed, Bradley patted him on the back, saying: “Brilliant mate, seriously well played. Well done.”
The Chase airs on weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
