In a new interview, host Chris Harrison opens up about producers focusing on a senior dating show following some criticism of the current ‘Bachelor’ cast’s immaturity.

AceShowbiz – Everyone, young and old, indeed deserves love. “The Bachelor” recently announced a new spin-off of the show which is for seniors, aging from 65 and up who are “looking for love.”
The producers behind the popular ABC dating franchise revealed in the Monday, February 24 episode of “The Bachelor” that they currently are casting for a new spin-off focusing on senior citizens looking for love.
One producer offered more details on Instagram. “Are you entering your golden years and looking for romance? The producers of The Bachelor are looking for active and outgoing single men and women in their golden for a new exciting dating show,” so Lindsay Liles captioned a promotional picture of the planned series.
Speaking with ET’s Lauren Zima during “Roses & Rose” on Tuesday, host Chris Harrison opened up about producers focusing on a senior dating show following some criticism of the current “Bachelor” cast’s immaturity. “Yeah, this is a knee jerk reaction to that,” he admitted. “We thought instead of 20s, we’re going 60s and 70s.”
Harrison also added that fans often asked him if the franchise had plan to include senior citizens. “[They say], ‘We need love too.’ And they’re right, and so we’re going to do it,” he explained of the show. “We’re going to put this to the test.”
“Everybody does deserve love, and while we can’t service everybody in the world, we’re gonna do our best. We’ve nailed down the singers [with] ‘Listen to Your Heart’, now the senior ‘Bachelor’,” he added.
Harrison, however, noted that there weren’t many details to share as of now. “A lot of it is still up in the air because this is in the gestation phase. And while we’re talking about 65 and older — I don’t think that’s set in stone either because we haven’t… we’re just beginning the casting process, so we’ll see what we’re about,” said Harrison.
