Ant McPartlin's famous rivalries from Joe Swash on-air spat to Piers Morgan rant

Ant McPartlin has had his fair share of problems over the last few years.

The beloved TV presenter went through a whopping £31million divorce pay-out to his ex-wife Lisa Armstrong, rehab for drink and drug problems, as well as counselling to heal his relationship with best mate Declan Donnelly.

But although Ant has seemingly got his life and presenting back on track, he’s also had some clashes to deal with during his colourful career.

Amazingly Ant – and Dec – had a secret feud with singer Peter Andre during the early stages of their blossoming celebrity careers.

And there’s also been heated clashes with controversial Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan and TV presenter and former EastEnders actor Joe Swash down the years.

Here Daily Star has a look back at some of Ant’s most famous clashes over the years.

Peter Andre

Peter opened up about his secret battle with Ant and Dec years ago

This beef dates back to 1990s when dynamic duo Ant and Dec lived in the same luxury London apartment building as the Mysterious Girl singer.

The Geordie boys grew sick and tired of Peter’s constant celebrity parties until the early hours of the morning.

And things boiled over when the three stars confronted each other about the noise.

“Myself, Dannii Minogue and Ant and Dec all lived in the same apartment block,” revealed Andre, speaking during Channel 5’s The Comeback of Ant McPartlin.

“I used to throw parties constantly, and I can remember them banging their broom on the ceiling because they were complaining because the music was too loud.

“Every time we saw each other it was kinda like, yeah…we were all rivals you see, because everyone wanted to fight for the top spot of the headlines.”

Joe Swash

Ant and Joe had to awkwardly explain to viewers that there was no beef between them

Fans were convinced Ant and Joe were embroiled in a secret feud after one particularly frosty exchange on I’m A Celebrity…..Get Me Out Of Here’s spin-off show Extra Camp.

Ant and Dec were quick to play down the supposed feud by discussing the so-called “beef” between the pair.

But having looked like Ant and Joe had made up with a hug, things quickly became awkward again when Joe tried to plant a smacker on the Geordie presenter.

Ant asked Joe: “What’s the matter with you?”

Keen to clarify the situation Dec jumped in with: “What is going on here, I read this online, what’s the beef here? Is it genuine beef?”

Former EastEnders actor Joe replied: “No I just think there’s a fine line between not liking someone and finding them very horny.

To which Ant joked: “That’s what I am, sexually attracted to you Joe.”

Dec added: “I wasn’t sure whether it was tension or sexual tension.”

Ant embraced Joe and said: “There’s no beef, come on Joe come on.”

But when Joe leaned in for a kiss Ant pulled back and retorted: “I’m not kissing. See you’ve just ruined it haven’t you,” before pushing the actor onto the couch.

“His a**e hangs out, his crack’s showing, he’s disgusting. You push it too far sometimes.”

Joe quipped: “Just kiss me man!”

“Why would I want to kiss you?” questioned Ant.

To which the Extra Camp presenter shouted: “Because you embarrass me in front of the nation!”

Piers Morgan

Piers and Ant reportedly clashed after he ranted about the presenter’s break from showbiz

Hardly someone to stay clear of controversy, Piers takes great joy in winding up Ant and Dec.

He branded the popular TV duo “cocky Geordie b*****ds” on his Instagram account, which has 1.4million followers.

The provoking comments came after Piers discovered he would face the Saturday Night Takeaway duo for a Favourite Presenter award.

Piers, Ant and Dec, Tom Allen (Bake Off: The Professionals), Rylan Clark-Neal (Supermarket Sweep), Stacey Dooley (Secrets from the Square), and Alex Jones (The One Show) are all in the running for the category for the TV Times Awards.

Ant reportedly emailed Piers to tell him off for ‘mocking people with mental health issues’

Piers revealed: “Delighted to have been nominated as Favourite Presenter (& Best Scowl) in the @tvtimesmagazine Awards.

“Vote for me if only to wipe the smug grin off those 2 cocky, snivelling little Geordie b*****ds…”

Ant and Dec have called Piers a “snowflake” which led to the GMB host slagging off the pair’s national treasure status.

“Why are they national treasures and I am not?” questioned Piers.

This came after Ant was reportedly left very annoyed at Piers’ comments about his and Dec’s nomination for their National Television Awards in 2019.

Ant has been through a lot over the last few years

Piers said on air: “It’s like Ant and Dec always winning it even though Ant hasn’t worked for a year.

“It’s like ‘Come on! How did you get a nom?’ I’m sorry but how did that happen?

“Dec? Sure he’s put a shift in, us? Hundreds of days at the coal face in the morning.”

“Walking the dog for a year, television personality of the year. Me? Coal face every morning, hours on end, week after week…nothing, not a dickie bird.

“Imagine Britain, if that is a reasonable way to conduct the awards season business, seriously.”

According to The Mirror, Ant sent Piers a strongly worded email letting him know his comments weren’t appreciated, and that he felt they mocked people suffering from mental health issues.

A source said: “Ant sent him an email saying he takes his recovery very seriously and he didn’t appreciate Piers belittling it by saying all he has done is walk the dog.”

Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway airs Saturday nights on ITV at 7pm
