Bill Cosby is reportedly trying to return to the world of showbiz following his release from prison after the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned his sex assault conviction.
The 84-year-old actor has been talking to producers about launching a new TV show in order to make his comeback and has a “number of ideas” for programmes, sources have claimed.
He has been spending time on his phone working on the projects, and even began his discussions with producers whilst he was still behind bars.
The comedian’s spokesperson, Andrew Wyatt, told Fox News: “Things are happening.
“He’s working on a number of projects right now, a number of ideas for a TV show that has him on the phone with producers, working with guys every day.
“He’s giving his creative ideas and input.”
Although details of the actor’s potential return to television are being kept private at this time, Wyatt revealed that Cosby’s chats with producers began when he was still in prison at the SCI Phoenix in Collegeville.
Wyatt continued: “He’s been working on this particular project now for a year and a half. When he was a resident of SCI Phoenix he would have phone calls with producers,”
It comes as Cosby served more than two years of a three-to-ten-year sentence in prison, before his sexual assault conviction was overturned in June by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
His subsequent release from prison sparked a wave of public shock and outrage.
Cosby was tried and convicted during the #MeToo era – a worldwide social movement against sexual abuse and sexual harassment.
Judges on the case said there had been a “process violation” by the prosecution when they overturned the actor’s conviction.
Cosby is currently still part of a 2014 lawsuit in Los Angeles involving allegations of sexual assault from an accuser called Judy Huth, who is represented by Gloria Allred.
Huth alleged that she was sexually abused by the actor at the Playboy mansion in 1974, with Cosby denying all claims of abuse.
