Billie Eilish will be heading up the Pyramid Stage for Glastonbury 2022 following two postponed festivals.
Glastonbury is coming back with a bang as the popular festival is expected to return next summer – and one headliner has already been confirmed.
In a statement released by the festival organisers on October 4, they wrote: “We are very excited to confirm that Billie Eilish will headline the Pyramid Stage on the Friday night at Glastonbury 2022 on June 24th, to become the Festival’s youngest ever solo headliner.
“The appearance – Eilish’s first UK festival headline performance – follows her storming set on the Other Stage at Glastonbury 2019.
“Tickets for the 2022 Festival, which runs from June 22 to June 26 are sold out, with deposits paid for the 2020 Festival having rolled over for a second year, following the cancellation of the 2021 Festival.”
She is the first act to be named for Glastonbury 2022.
Billie, who has been firmly in the spotlight since 2019 with the release of chart-topper Bad Guy, shared a snap on her Instagram story as she posed in a hoodie with the words “Glastonbury Festival Worthy Farm” sprawled across it.
As she donned an excited smile, Billie added “2022” across the snap as she suggested that she would be on the stage.
Taking to Twitter, fans were adamant that Billie’s hint definitely meant she would be headlining, with one user taking to Twitter and writing: “Oh my, Billie Eilish for Glastonbury 2022!”
Another said: “Ooo headlining Glastonbury. That’s a huge deal.”
A third simply wrote: “See you at Glastonbury next year!”
The singer previously played Glastonbury on The Other Stage in 2019 as she just started making a name for herself in the music industry – but at the time she confessed she didn’t know how big of a deal it was.
She confessed that people were praising her for getting the gig and was completely unaware at how big the festival is in the UK.
Billie is the first act announced the the 2022 festival following two cancellations due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
People who had previously put deposits down for the event had their tickets rolled over so they could attend the 2022 event.
