Carol Vorderman, 60, sparked fears from her Twitter followers as she admitted her once dulcet tones have disappeared and her singing voice now sounds like the croaky Marge from The Simpsons.
The Countdown star appeared on Good Morning Britain to pay tribute to the late Captain Sir Tom Moore today.
But as she spoke of the heroic veteran who raised millions for the NHS last year, viewers were more concerned by how croaky she sounded, especially following her tweets yesterday.
Given the many rumours circulating that Carol is secretly one of the contestants on The Masked Singer UK, fans were nervous it could affect her chances on the talent competition.
The TV presenter shared the video showcasing her bad throat as she tried to croon the Johnny Cash hit You Are My Sunshine.
“Me with a sore throat doing Marge @TheSimpsons singing YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE,” she joked.
The star then added in another post: “So one of the benefits of losing my voice is…….
“I do a b****y brilliant Marge Simpson impression….
“Next tweet…. Marge singing You are my sunshine.”
Flocking to the comments, some of Carol’s 465,000 followers were already anxious for the star.
And when the Countdown favourite proved she still hasn’t recovered on the ITV news programme today, it only served to heighten fears she won’t be able to “perform” on this weekend’s instalment of The Masked Singer.
“Oh dear Carol hot water, lemon and honey,” one person advised.

“I love your attitude and sense of humour. I hope your throat clears up soon,” another shared.
A third praised: “You still have a gorgeous voice, get better soon x.”
While a fourth worried: “Is Carol Vorderman ok?”
Thankfully, Masked Singer has been recorded far in advance, meaning even if Carol is behind the mask, her performance wouldn’t be affected.
It comes as Carol sent the rumour mill whirring that she is Dragon on The Masked Singer UK 2021 after guest judge Alan Carr guessed she was behind the mask.
The TV star then fuelled the fire while discussing the contestant’s performance on her Twitter page.
“Carol VorderDAMN?” Carol teased in response to Alan’s commentary, before sharing a video of herself on Stars in Their Eyes in 1998 singing Cher’s The Shoop Shoop Song, which Dragon sang on the show.
