Coronation Street character Ryan Connor has had his fair share of drama in the Weatherfield soap since he was first seen on our screens back in 2006.
But it isn’t just the character who has undergone a series of big changes over the years – the actor playing the role has switched on numerous occasions too.
This week on Corrie, Ryan catches Zeedan out in a lie when he discovers a bag of money.
Ryan demands answers and begs Zeedan to go to the police, but as they argue Alya wants to know what’s going on.
As Ryan gets himself involved in a tricky storyline, we’re taking a look at what the stars who’ve played the character are up to now.
Ben Thompson (2006–2010)
Ben Thompson joined the cast of Coronation Street in 2006 when he was just 14 years old.
The young actor originally auditioned for the role of Cameron McIntyre, hoping to star alongside his friend Sam Aston who played Chesney Brown.
The pair had both attended the Carol Goby Theatre Workshop together.
Ben’s audition was such a success that he was asked to take a second screen test, this time for a different role, and Ryan Connor was born.
He was originally given a six-month contract but his acting skills secured him an extension to 2009 and then to 2012 when he decided to quit the role.
Since quitting Corrie Ben briefly appeared in the 2015 movie Fungus The Bogeyman as Bogey Sentry.
The one-time soap star has now left his acting career behind him and is instead a budding musician with indie band Rusholme Ruffians.
He describes himself on Twitter as a: “Cynical and opinionated musician.”
Sol Heras (2012–2013)
Sol took over from Ben Thompson following his decision not to return to Coronation Street in 2012.
His stint as Ryan was relatively short-lasting due to the character being written out in July 2013, just over a year after he joined the cast.
Since leaving the soap Sol has taken on sporadic acting roles but struggled to find another steady acting job to date.
In 2014 he starred in the film Viking – The Berserkers in the leading role.
Then in 2015 he appeared in the short film The Service, and in 2016 was cast to star in BAFTA-winning game Late Shift.
His social media pages show him enjoying day to day life with his two dogs – a bulldog and a golden retriever.
Ryan Prescott (2018–present)
Ryan joined Coronation Street in 2018 when new producer Kate Oates decided to bring the character back and chose to recast the role.
Having previously starred as Liam Slade in Doctors and Flynn Buchanan in Emmerdale he was no stranger to soaps when he was cast as Ryan.
The actor has gone from strength to strength in the role and is about to embark on his latest gritty storyline as he attempts to win back ex-girlfriend Alya.
Outside of the role, Ryan loves to work out and often teases his fans showing off his muscles on Instagram.
Showing off his bulging biceps and traps in one image he posted: “Rooaaarrrrr cleavage and stashe.”
On another he posted some inspiration for fans writing: “At times we feel life holding us down, with all the weight of our own little worlds on our shoulders… sometimes it can be hard to see that every time we’re down there… a tiny window of opportunity is created for us to GET BACK UP. I miss you squat rack.”
