Coronation Street fans were left fuming as they attempted to tune in for the latest instalment of their favourite soap to be met with Simon Cowell’s new ITV programme.
Walk The Line debuted on the channel on Sunday in hope of finding undiscovered talent, who will all be in with a chance to win some serious cash.
However, soap goers were not impressed that Corrie had been sacrificed for most of the week as a result of the singing competition, as episodes will air every night at 7:30 instead of double bills of the soap every other day.
Upset that the ITV scheduled had been tampered with, they took to Twitter to file their grievances.
One person fumed: “I would rather have the extra episode of @itvcorrie than #WalkTheLine! #boring #corrie.”
Another raged: “Where the hell is #Corrie?????? What’s this s***e ‘talent’ show that’s replaced it?
“FFS @ITV whoever made this decision needs to get fired instantly! #CoronationStreet #ITV.”
While a third penned: “Who gave ITV permission to air #Corrie once a night this week to make way for some absolutely s***e singing show with average talent and boring judges? #WalkTheLine.”
Ordinarily, viewers could expect to digest a double dose of the Weatherfield’s soap which normally kicks off at 7:30pm and then again at 8:30pm.
However, with Walk The Line taking over the schedule from 8pm to 9pm they were only provided with one episode on Monday night.
The new talent-scout programme is hosted by TV presenter Maya Jama – with bands and solo singers taking to the stage in hope of bagging the prize pot of £500,000.
In usual Simon Cowell fashion of course there is a star-studded judging panel, including; X Factor star Gary Barlow, Craig David, Alesha Dixon and Dawn French.
The team of celebrities will offer up advise to contestants who are hoping to bag themselves some cash.
In spite of some of the big names involved, it seems viewers have not been overwhelmed with the first two instalments.
One online user wrote: “Not really sure what I was expecting but #WalkTheLine is dreadful. Unnecessary gimmick, pointless. It is either a fix or the audience are deaf and brainless. A poor facsimile of Adele seems that he what they like. Weird and s***e.”
Another remarked: “Hyped up cattle market so yep a load of old b*****s. Bring back Opportunity Knocks and I mean that most sincerely . #WalkTheLine.”
