Dancing on Ice 2021 hasn’t even hit screens yet and it’s already been plagued with horrific injuries.
Yesterday it was revealed that Big Breakfast legend Denise van Outen was rushed to hospital after falling on the ice rink while training.
The TOWIE voiceover star dislocated her shoulder after she fell flat on her face during rehearsals.
Denise’s injury comes after Graham Bell’s professional skating partner Yebin Mok found herself out of the competition for the next few weeks after her leg was lacerated from a stab wound caused by an ice blade.
While Rebekah Vardy accidentally sliced her partner Andy Buchanan’s face open with her skate blade after a trick went horribly wrong.
Denise shared a bevy of snaps of herself being tended to in hospital on her Instagram page today following the horror fall.
One photo shows her being given some medication by doctors, while another shows her lying in a hospital bed having gas and air.
Other photos see Denise being tended to by medics at side of the rink, as she held a bag of ice to her head.
Speaking about the incident on Instagram on Sunday, Denise shared: “Thank you for all your lovely messages this morning. Told you I’m clumsy on the ice! . Massive thanks to everyone @itv. (Medics & production) and our glorious @nhswebsite for looking after me because I know how overstretched you are at the moment.
“Also thank you to @themattevers for being a true friend and taking care of me and making me laugh when I feel like crying.”
Dramatic pictures obtained by The Sun show the moment Denise was sent flying on the ice.
In the photos showing the scary moment Denise took a tumble, the stunning starlet is seen leading partner Matt Evers around the ice.
However, the TV presenter loses her footing and ends up falling, seeing her face smack against the ice.
Matt, who has been living with Denise at her Essex home, which she shares with daughter Betsy and partner Eddie Boxshall, is then seen rushing over to Denise to check she’s okay.
Medics were on-hand to tend to Denise at the side of the ice rink, before she was rushed to hospital after the accident on Thursday.
An X-ray at the hospital revealed that Denise had dislocated her left shoulder and damaged some tendons.
Denise was left battered and bruised by the incident and has been ordered to rest by doctors.
It is still touch-and-go as to whether Denise will take to the ice on Sunday night.
Speaking to The Sun on Sunday about the horrifying fall, Denise shared: “I’ve taken a few tumbles since we started training but with this one I knew immediately it wasn’t good.
“Straightaway I knew I’d done something. I just thought, ‘Please don’t let it be a break.”
Denise shared she is “determined” not to let her injury stop her though and she and partner Matt Evers have made some changes to stop any extra strain on her shoulder.
She concluded: “I’m working on recovering and hoping and praying I can do my routine.
“We are taking it hour by hour, resting as much as I can and hoping for the best.”
