Emmerdale's Charley Webb admits she's 'sinking' with pressures of lockdown

Emmerdale’ s Charley Webb admitted she sometimes felt like she was “sinking” with the pressures brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking honestly about the strain of the lockdown, Charley thanked her fans for their words of support, shedding some light on her issues with homeschooling.

The actress, 32, who recently returned to Emmerdale as Debbie Dingle, is a proud mum to three boys with her actor husband Matthew Wolfenden.

Her two eldest sons, Buster, 10, and Bowie Grey, five, are currently being homeschooled, spending their days in the family home due to the nationwide lockdown.

In a sentiment felt by many parents across the country, Charley confessed the strain of educating her boys could be “stressful” at times, as she thanked her fans for their continued support over social media.

The Mancunian actress urged her followers to be kind to themselves, pointing out the entire nation is struggling to come to terms with the impact of the pandemic.

She said: “I think we all just need to give ourselves a break. We’re in circumstances that we never thought we would be in.

“And it’s not just the homeschooling it’s everything. Some days I just feel like I’m sinking a little bit.”

Opening up about the pressure she was feeling in a candid video, Charley said: “Yesterday, was not the day for me.

“At all. You guys were making me laugh so much with your messages about homeschooling.

“Today has been a lot less stressful. I think I’ve taken the pressure off a little bit. I’m not one of those mums that’s like, ‘You have to do this!’

“But sometimes I feel the pressures from outside of my life. Do you know what I mean?”

The soap star then went into detail about the ins and outs of homeschooling, saying: “Bowie had his Zoom and then he had a little bit of work to do, and he didn’t want to do it. He said, ‘Nope’.

“I said, ‘Alright. No problem. Don’t do it.’ I’m not having those battles. I just can’t.

“Buster is a different story. He really does need to do it. But the pressure…”

Ending on an uplifting note, Charley pointed out it was important to remain positive, inviting a welcome dose of laughter into each day.

She added: “But you guys make me laugh and are also going through it.”
