Giovanna Fletcher claimed thousands of pounds from the furlough scheme just weeks after winning I’m a Celebrity, it has been revealed.
The mum of three, 36, won the ITV jungle show set in Gwrych Castle in North Wales back in December last year.
The podcaster lives with her pop star husband Tom, who is worth an estimated £8 million, and the big I’m a Celeb victory saw her fortunes sky-rocket as she pulled in offers said to be worth up to £4 million.
After the show wrapped, it has been reported the pair received up to £30,000 of government money from the lockdown-aid scheme.
A HMRC register of claims reveals the pair received support shortly after Giovanna bagged her win on the jungle show last Christmas.
HMRC files published last week listed more than 600,000 companies and individuals who received taxpayers’ money between January and March this year, The Sun reported.
Giovanna’s podcast, Happy Mum Happy Baby, also racked up an impressive 12 million downloads which boosted her earnings.
Giovanna shares kids Buzz, six, Buddy, four, and Max, two, with McFly singer Tom who is 35 and the mum spoke about her plans for a luxury holiday back in January.
She told HELLO! Magazine: “We’d like to do a trip to Jade Mountain in St Lucia just for us and go to Disney World in Florida, which was our second honeymoon destination, with the whole family.
“Having young kids is relentless and intense so it’d be nice to have something that’s focused on us.”
She also spoke about how her life has changed since winning the reality show, saying: “It was such a freeing experience, not being as accessible as I usually am in normal life.”
It was not clear if Giovanna or Tom were claiming the furlough money for themselves or an employee, The Sun reported.
Companies House records explain Giovanna Fletcher LTD in 2019 had one employee and £300,00-plus in the bank.
Daily Star has contacted Giovanna’s spokeswoman for comment.
