Good Morning Britain made a major schedule shake-up to honour Prince Philip as the UK enters a period of national mourning following the announcement of his death.
The Royal Family released a statement on April 9, revealing that the Duke of Edinburgh had passed away “peacefully” at the Palace.
In tribute to Prince Philip, ITV made another change to their usual GMB timetable which didn’t go unnoticed by viewers.
Ordinarily, main hosts Susanna Reid and Kate Garraway would have began their shift at 6:30am but the pair took centre stage at 6am instead.
Fan took to Twitter to point out that the TV hosts had began bright and early, instead of at their allotted slot.
One fan penned: “Ohh Susanna and Kate are on?”
Another tweet at 6am read: “Love these ladies together, makes my morning.”
Sean Fletcher would normally kick off the show from 6am until half past, with the main presenters airing 30 minutes later.
Opening the show, Susanna and Kate read out a number of tributes from his sons and Royal members.
It seems this particular schedule tactic is taken when there is urgent news on the agenda.
Previously, GMB chiefs made this switch to announce the Covid-19 pandemic.
Last week, ITV made a number of changes when it came to their ordinary schedule, with the likes of Loose Women and This Morning being put on the back-burner to honour the Queen’s husband.
Buckingham Palace confirmed that Prince Philip had died, aged 99, with the Queen expressing her “deep sorrow”.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV from 6am.
