Happy Mondays star Bez is set to join Dancing On Ice 2022, he has confirmed on This Morning.
The musician has signed up for the celeb dancing show after recently appearing on Celebrity Gogglebox alongside his bandmate and pal Shaun Ryder.
Bez also starred in the latest series of Celebrity Masterchef, but he’s already taken to the ice rink to practice his moves, according to sources.
Speaking to Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby the star confessed he “can’t skate”, and even used the penguin-helpers last year.
It looks like preparations have been underway in terms of his fitness, but ice skating seemingly isn’t a skill in his book.
The confirmation of Mark ‘Bez’ Berry’s debut comes after a source told The Sun that he would be taking part, they said: “He’s always up for a challenge and is already in training on the ice.”
Bez will join Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor on the star-studded dancing show – after she became the first celebrity confirmed as part of the line-up.
Lorraine Kelly announced the news on her ITV chat show today as she chatted to Sally, who appeared via video.
The soap star gushed: “Oh my gosh, Lorraine. This morning I was really nervous… now everyone knows I’m doing it, I can’t get out of it!”
Opening up about why she decided to take part in the show, she revealed that she’s already begun training for the competition.
She said: “If I don’t do it this year I don’t think I’m ever going to do it. I’m completely out of my comfort zone… I’ve just got to try and enjoy this experience.
“I’ve had a couple of lessons, I’ve just started… it’s started to kick in, the training.”
Lorraine said: “I’m on speed dial, voting for you because you’ve got absolutely the right attitude because you’re doing it for you.”
It follows the announcement last night that series regular John Barrowman will be leaving the ITV show after two years as he won’t be returning as a judge on the latest series.
Barrowman is set to be joining ITV’s All Star Musicals and is believed to be “thrilled about” the opportunity.
An ITV spokesperson told Daily Star: “We thank John Barrowman for two brilliant years on the Dancing On Ice panel and are pleased to be working with him again as host of the forthcoming All Star Musicals specials.”
The TV judge, 54, had been accused of exposing himself on the sets of television shows.
In 2015, Noel Clarke claimed John would often expose himself “every give seconds” whilst on set.
The actor was also claimed to have flashed in 2008 during a Radio 1 interview when discussing his pranks with presenters, after which he apologised for going too far.
John, who went into therapy earlier this year, has never been arrested or charged and no further allegations have been made about him.
The Torchwood star previously said: “They were different times, which is why I wouldn’t do now what I did then. I’ve acknowledged that by the way my behaviour has changed.
“I’ve always believed that the reason I was put on this planet was to bring joy to people, make them laugh. How I do that has evolved over the years.
He added: “I’m still using humour, just in a different way than might have been the case ten or 20 years ago.
