Jamie Oliver’s loving wife Jools has revealed they may use IVF to expand their growing brood once more as the happy couple share their plans to welcome another child.
The 46-year-old model has been extremely candid about her struggles to conceive as the brunette beauty suffered her fifth miscarriage during lockdown last year.
The wife of the infamous TV chef opened up to fans about the next step towards completing her family with grief and loss expert Zoe Clark-Coates during her Life & Soul Podcast on Tuesday.
The Essex native revealed in the tell-all chat how she “could have died” after she suffered her second miscarriage had she not been rushed to hospital by her doting husband Jamie.
The loving mum-of-five revealed how she found out about her second miscarriage during a breast exam at a doctor’s office in London after almost fainting from blood loss.
The star shared how she quickly drove herself to hospital despite being unable to stop the bleeding during her journey.
She said: “I was near the Portland [private hospital] and I thought I’m actually gonna drive to hospital.
“So I sat in the car and it was just getting heavier, I thought okay I’m gonna die,” she admitted.
“So I phoned the Portland and I begged them to come and get us, please come and get me because I’m bleeding.”
Completely on her own, the brave mother managed to get herself to Marylebone High Street before she was greeted by a nurse with medication and a wheelchair.
She continued: “They were like ‘if you can just walk’ and I said ‘bring an ambulance or do what you have to do’ and this poor young girl came with a wheelchair up Marylebone High Street.
“Jamie arrived and he was like ‘oh my god’ it was like a murder scene. It’s so visually hideous. I don’t remember the rest. I must have almost passed out.”
As she reflected on the horrific event, Jools admitted: “Had I taken the journey to go home and not the hospital I don’t think I would have survived because it was so much blood loss.”
When asked about her hopes of welcoming a sixth child in the future, Jools told listeners: “Once you have these miscarriages you are always like, this baby is meant to be here, I have to keep trying.
“So I have thought about IVF because having researched it and spoken to some amazing people, it seems like the right option for my age.
“But you know that it’s hard because also I’ve got a partner you know, I’ve got to think about him I’m not so sure he’s that keen to do it that way. So I don’t want to push anything, because I’m very lucky.”
Jools and Jamie are currently parents to five beautiful children; Poppy, 19, Daisy Boo, 17, Petal Blossom, 12, Buddy, 10, and five-year-old River.
And the established author admitted that having a large family has always been a dream of hers which she first started to envision at the age of eight.
Speaking to Zoe, who founded the charity Saying Goodbye which helps with advice and support to anyone who has suffered the loss of a baby, Jools urged women to talk more about miscarriages and the continued to support women in need after losing a child.
She said: “Having had five, I know a lot needs to change for other people much younger than me who will go through this.
“You cannot pack someone off and say ‘off you go. Go and pass you baby and you’ll be fine.’
“I don’t know how they can do that, I don’t know why they do that. Why aren’t they calling you everyday and saying, ‘Darling, it’s me I’m your midwife. How much blood loss have you had? How do you feel?’
“They do when they come to check the health of the baby every day, why can’t they do that with a miscarriage as it could be fatal.”
