Saira Khan left the hit daytime talk show Loose Women back in January this year, after a sudden shock exit that left fans speculating why.
She left the show at the beginning of the year after she decided to quit the show six years after joining as a regular panellist in 2015.
When she left at the start of the year, she said that the reason why, was because she wanted to “pursue other life experiences.”
In an exclusive interview with The Mirror, she explained that she was turning up for her job and her heart just wasn’t in it, “you come home and you just feel sh*t about yourself and about what you’ve said. The only thing you can do is make a change.”
On her decision to quit the ITV panel show, she said that her decision came from a mixture of different things.
“Firstly, I’d outgrown the programme. There were some women that I just thought, ‘I’ve got to just tolerate you to do the job and in real life you wouldn’t be my friend’.”
It was also revealed that Saira unfollowed the majority of her former co-stars on social media.
She is however still close with four of her former colleagues Coleen Nolan, Ruth Langsford, Linda Robson and Christine Lampard.
Her social media is also a less toxic place and she feels “much more confident.”
Back in January she swiped at her co-stars in a cryptic Instagram post, where she wrote: “You make friends with some people, you tolerate some people, and some people you are just there to do the job with – Saira Khan.”
Saira did say though that it wasn’t easy walking away from the role, explaining it was a good job, that had a good wardrobe, friends and money, “but when you’re there discussing a subject with your friends in a very innocent way, the amount of trolling you get online is horrendous,” she said.
“It just becomes toxic for women. It’s a show for women but I don’t feel like it empowered me.”
Since leaving the show at the beginning of the year the 51-year-old mum-of-two has been focusing on her beauty business, her health and her family life with husband Steve Hyde.
