Louise Minchin confirms 'exciting' new solo project after leaving BBC Breakfast

Louise Minchin certainly wasn’t wasting any time when it comes to new endeavours as she revealed that she’ll be bringing out a new book.

After devoting 20 years to her BBC Breakfast career, the 53-year-old TV star stepped down from her role last month.

Having enjoyed a few weeks without setting the alarm for 3:45am each day, the mum-of-two is raring to get back to work again.

Until now, Louise has remained tight-lipped about any future projects that were in the pipeline.

The newsreader has confirmed that she will be writing a book about women’s challenges in sport, along with continuing her podcast that is focused on mental and physical benefits of sport and exercise.

Announcing the new publication, Bloomsbury Sport wrote: “We’re thrilled to announce we’ll be publishing Adventures With Superwomen, the second book from former BBC Breakfast presenter @louiseminchin, in September 2023.

“Join Louise as she sets out to meet women taking on some of the toughest challenges in sport.”

Louise was quick to spread the word, re-tweeting the news on her own Twitter page and 226,000 followers.

Louise will also continue with her mental health podcast

She penned: “I am so excited about this, thanks @BloomsburySport.”

Her celebratory post was inundated with comments, including many compliments from friends in the industry.

Presenter Andrew White commented: “Excellent Louise,” another fan added: “Fabulous news – I loved your first book. Been waiting for this second book.”

With many others offering up “congratulations” and well wishes.

Louise announced in June that she would be leaving the BBC

Back in June, the long-serving presenter announced her exit with an emotional statement live on air.

She explained: “It will be this year 20 years since I first presented this programme.

“Since then I’ve felt part of a huge, enormous BBC Breakfast family which includes everyone who works here, everyone on the team and every one of you who watches the programme.

“I’ve loved being part of it, but – there is a but – I’ve decided that it is time that I stop setting my alarm for 3.40 – sometimes if I’m feeling really rebellious 3.46 in the morning – and I’m going to be leaving the programme.

She continued: “It’s not going to be for a while.

“But before anything else, I wanted to thank everybody who is watching for your loyalty and support over all these years.

“I have absolutely loved being part of it and I will really miss it but it’s time now to stop that alarm early in the morning. Thank you for watching all these years.”
